All for one, but three is all. Digital Spy (DS) reports the upcoming third season of BBC America and BBC One‘s The Musketeers TV series will be its last. The BBC has not yet officially announced the swashbuckling series is cancelled.
The 17th Century action-drama, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ novel, The Three Musketeers, stars Tom Burke as Athos, Santiago Cabrera as Aramis, Howard Charles as Porthos, and Luke Pasqualino as d’Artagnan. The actors issued statements to Digital Spy, in which they reflect on their time on the ending series, thank their audience for tuning in, and even tease season three of The Musketeers.
Here is more, from DS
“My Musketeers adventure was truly an incredible experience, which will live with me forever,” said Pasqualino. “I had the most amazing time exploring this beautiful world with even more beautiful people.
“I feel very sad to see its end but have every confidence that the fans will love viewing it as much as we enjoyed making it. Huge thanks to all who made the show such a pleasurable journey and of course, thank you to the fans that saw the show for everything that it was.”
Burke promised that the final series of The Musketeers will explore “a universe that is less stable than the first two”.
“I suppose by that I mean that death and decay are casting a far bigger shadow than ever before from the very first episode,” he said. “And because of that characters come to really examine their motives, and their fears, not only to save France but to find peace within. Time is running out and no-one is getting any younger.”
Cabrera commented: “Three seasons of The Musketeers was a true, action packed adventure, in every sense of the term. I will miss the world of Dumas, these rich characters, and many of the friendships made along the way.
“A big thank you to the fans of the show, you’re the ones that kept us going strong. Hope you enjoy this third and final season as much as the first two. Your support has been wonderful. It’s all yours now.”
Charles also expressed his appreciation for the show’s loyal fans, adding: “The Musketeers has been a truly wonderful experience, an enlightening challenge and a memorable three seasons.
“These characters will never cease to educate us on the notion of Liberty, Fraternity and Equality. They will live forever in our hearts and minds. A huge thank you to our fans of old and new, hope you enjoy the final season. Your loyalty and support is not lost on us. All for one…”
In the upcoming last season of The Musketeers, Rupert Everett plays the villainous Parisian Governor Feron. The actor told DS he loved being on the series, adding, “The actors were all brilliant – as were the directors. It was hard work but fun. We were on location in the Czech Republic which is stunning and Prague is incredible. It was a hot Summer, so doubly great!”
The Musketeers is a BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC America and BBC Worldwide. Series creator Adrian Hodges is lead writer. The Musketeers is executive produced by Jessica Pope, with Colin Wratten producing.
What do you think? Should The Musketeers TV show end after its third season or should it be renewed? Let us know, below.
Very sad to see that The show is cancelled.
Please please renew the Musketeers
This is the best show on tv. Costumes, sets, and those four hotter than hot Musketeers. Sure, leave the crap on tv and let this wonderful story go untold. THANKS ALOT !!!!
Hope the show is picked up Here in the USA great show type needed
Oh no. Please renew as such a brilliant series in all ways.
Please renew. Just too interesting! It is good acting and realistic plots.
I hope they don’t cancel this series, its one of the better family shows on the BBC, a real adventurous, fun, fight of the good against the bad series. Beautiful costumes, great characters, believable settings, great storyline, a great bunch of actors ( especially Santiago!) really enjoyable, BBC should realise they do not have many shows which most of the family can enjoy together. Please don’t cancel!
Seriously, this is a great show. Why would they cancel it? It is so hard for find quality programs and once again they’ve canceled a truly engaging, exciting show.
I am sorry to see this magnificent show cancelled! I loved the story lines and the characters (and the actors of course). I happen to stumble on it when channel surfing and was immediately drawn into the series. I feel lost without it. I was very impressed! Please can you consider another season?
I love the Musketeers and am very sad it is ending. I have the first 2 seasons on DVD. Why do they always cancel the good shows??
I’m so disappointed if in fact the show is being cancelled. My two favorite shows on BBC are Graham Norton and the Musketeers. Sweet like once you get invested in a really goofed show, it gets cancelled. So so very disappointed:(
Why does the BBC have to cancel all the best shows, like they did with Jason etc, they just like more and more foody type shows, sick of it.
I really like the show the muskeeters and i hope it stays renewed
Great show BBC never really gave it a chance. Bring it back
One of few great show around. Bbc never really gave it a chance. Bring it back
