After struggling for years in the ratings, it seems that NBC is really starting to turn things around. Of course, they still have their challenges. Which NBC TV shows will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned!
NBC shows this season (so far): A to Z, About a Boy, AD: The Bible Continues: Allegiance, America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, American Odyssey, Aquarius, Bad Judge, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, The Celebrity Apprentice, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Constantine, Dateline, Dateline Saturday Night Mystery, Grimm, Hannibal, Hollywood Game Night, I Can Do That, The Island, Last Comic Standing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Marry Me, Mr. Robinson, The Mysteries of Laura, The Night Shift, One Big Happy, Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, The Sing-Off, The Slap, State of Affairs, Undateable, The Voice, and Welcome to Sweden.
There’s lots of data that NBC looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
STATE OF AFFAIRS!!! BEST SHOW EVER!!! I am in my 20’s and even with school, work and daily life tasks I always have time to watch this show. I am really not into watching series because I usually don’t have time to, but this one is too AWESOME to NOT watch!! Please Bring it back for Season Two!!!!!!!!!
I love about a boy and I won’t it to be renewed look forward to watching it every week
Not to be rude but Hannibal should be added to the NBC list it is on that channel just saying.
It hasn’t aired yet and there’s no date for its return either. That’s why it’s not on the list.
I can’t believe About a Boy is so low in the ratings. It’s funny with a great cast. I really hope it survives.
I LOVE State of Affairs!!!!! Please renew for another year!!!!!
I wish they’d hurry up and officially cancel Constantine. Forever. I don’t want it moved anywhere, I want it gone.
Fortunately, that seems to be in the cards. There’s no actual basis for the rumors that it might move to SyFy– it turned out that the guy who started that rumor could produce no proof and name no names and wasn’t that reliable a source of information to begin with.
And considering SyFy’s terrible-yet-well-deserved bad luck with Dresden Files, one wouldn’t expect they would want to touch Constantine with an 11-foot pole.
We are getting Grimm in the UK on one of the less popular satellite channels and Netflix, it has been a long time since I’ve seen a series with such potential and engaging charactors. As we get further into the story arc it became compulsive viewing (we binged on netflix not done that for years) When one of the major channels picks up on the series it will be huge over here the NBC picked a winner!
constantine is one of the best shows on right now. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. It’s the only show my family bothers to sit and watch together. CONSTANTINE IS THE BEST!!!
Yes, Constantine rocks! I look forward to watching it. I liked Grimm but Constantine has so much more potential. I hope NBC knows what a gem they have here!
I LOVE the Blacklist but don’t love that its on Thursdays now……State of Affairs is great and I’m a little surprised that the ratings are higher than Grimm, my Friday nite favourite!!!
LOVED Allegiance. Got my attention from the first minute and I loved how it ended. It was action packed and not one dull moment. Looking forward to future episodes.
I’m pissed that A to Z is being cancelled. I think that’s such a funny show and I can’t figure out why more people aren’t watching it. I especially love Kristin Miliotti. People don’t know a good show when they see it. Such a shame.
Grimm is the only show I watch on this network and I thought tnt was going to get grim I’m still waiting for the 3 hrs of Grimm we were supposed to get NBC sucks GRIMM ROCKS
The Black list and State of Affairs are very well written and they are my favorites.
State of Affairs just rocks! Totally gripping, honestly, better than Homeland!
Constantine Rocks! And, Is Getting Better Every Week. You Have A Winner NBC, Don’t Throw It Away Before It Can Crawl!
I agree! I only watch shows on Internet but I can’t wait for Constantine. It’s a great show; it’s only just starting to gel….canceling it would be a terrible shame!
