The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
Like others have said already the basic idea of the show is so much like Rookie Blue. But the huge difference should be the location filming in New York. The producers have the entire city of New York to film in and we hardly get to see much of the great city and what sets it apart. I heard this show is going to be cancelled and I know why. You never get to see the main characters out of their uniforms. You never get to see their family life. The elder Rookie seems to be divorced with no family… Read more »
Any chance of a cable channel picking up NC 22 ala Southland ?
What a shame! For once, a non-formulaic police drama that had young characters with potential. I was looking forward to seeing how the show would develop over the next seasoons.
I really liked this show. I wish they would let it have a second season. I was a good one just like “Harry”s Law”. They cancel all the good shows and leave crap on the air.
I like NYC22 storyline & characters. It is ashame its being canceled! That is the 3rd new show that i have liked that wont be getting a 2nd season! I also liked shows Missing & Awake & they both also got the ax! Really sucks when channels dont give new shows more opportunities to shine. Dont know if networks can tell if people are DVR’ing shows to watch at later dates? Because that is only way i watch tv! Got to love the DVR because commercial free TV is the only way to watch TV!!
Why do all of the good shows get cancelled? This one was shaping up to be a good one that got better each week. It’s on Saturday this week, which is better. It’s summer, and there is little to watch but reality crap that brings out and shows the worst in people. NYC 22 is a good show with good stories and interesting characters. The episodes are well thought out, and unlike other ensemble casts with several stories going on each week, it is easy to keep up with each story and each rookie. I will miss NYC 22.
We can’t believe this show was cancelled! These are interesting characters and plots.
the show is amazing got hooked from the first episode i cant believe its cancelled
Wish I knew how they got their stats. Seems as if all the good shows (at least the shows I like!) get canceled. NYC 22 is wonderfully written. I enjoy it very much.
This is another example of a great show being cancelled before its time! It seems that as time goes on there are fewer shows worth watching like this one. I hate the fact that this won’t be around longer. What is up with TV anymore? I feel like I’m getting the shaft every season when another quality show gets cancelled and I’m left with almost nothing good worth watching.
This is a great show, it was hard to find, and inconsistently showed, a poorly advertised. The writing is awsome, the stories are interesting and the characters aren’t all sleeping with each other. Give us a chance to tune in, I bet its being watched like crazy since its been put in as a summer replacement and has a fairly consistent time slot. I’m sorry its been cancelled just because it was poorly managed.
I love that freaking show dont cancel bettr then law n oedere
Who’s doing the ‘rating’ on these shows? Now “The Big Bang Theory” has an A++ ‘rating?’ I think ‘ratings’ have more to do with production and location costs, actors’ salaries, and advertising intake than quality drama or comedy. BBT is certainly -not- quality in any sense of the word. It’s simply vapid. A++ vapid. Now on five times a week. Hey, wtf – let’s bring back Just Shoot Me for it’s lead-in.
Bull » Ratings are based on how many people watch, not any of the criteria you mentioned.
Another touching, smart show cancelled so the dumbshits can watch senseless ********!
I didn’t like the show at first, but have continued watching the episodes on Saturday nights as they are playing out…..I now actuallythink it is really quite good….save it please
