The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
Now surprise here. This show was awful from the word go.
when i heared that NYC 22 was canceled i was really disappionted because this show was getting interesting from start to finish plus the storyline and the acting were awesome! from watching the first pilot episode to the last episode; i wanted to see more? PLEASE CBS “BRING BACK NYC 22” you’ll be happy that you did but show it on a reasonable time and hour for people to see what they are missing.
I think throwing a new show in to the line up when all the other shows on network TV are going through season finales isnt fare for a new show, try moving it to say thursday night after all the other Season Finals and then grade it. if it succeeds order another 13 for a fall run Behind a criminal mind or csi?????
I think it was a good show, and I don’t really watch many shows on CBS. The problem was they put in a bad time slot so it never had a chance.
I think that that CBS should reconsider canceling NYC 22 and I’ll tell you why. When I began watching the first episode, the opening of it was so slow moving and boring I changed the channel and never intended to watch any of it again. However, I recorded on my DVR and a member of my family insisted on watching episode one. For the second time I suffered through the first 5 minutes or so and then much to my surprise the show became interesting and very good. I think many people did what I initially did in not wanting… Read more »
They put it on Sunday night in the midst of great PBS stuff, hot shows on Showtime(Nurse Jackie, Big C, Borgias), VEEP on HBO, and Desperate Housewives and Good Wife on CBS. It may not have been opposite all of them but I kept forgetting about it while trying to watch all of the above PLUS Masterpiece Mystery.
It was a compelling show — very different characters with intriguing backgrounds.
Networks are run by brainless idiots. Watch ABC almost kill “Modern Family” by having it on one week, off four . . . . .
I am so disappointed that this show didn’t get it’s fair run. This was one of those cop shows that showed us how the rookies were able to deal with first hand situations that was sometimes life threatening or self teaching. When is it going to dvd i want to order it.
I’m really disappointed. This was the first broadcast network show I’ve watched in two years, and the only cop show I’ve ever liked. CBS didn’t give the show a fair shot. They started airing it at the end of the normal season, and used it to fill the time slot of a to be canceled cop show with a loyal fan base. Of course people didn’t watch; they either weren’t expecting a new show or they were angry about CSI:Miami being cancelled and refused to watch its replacement.
Hasn’t any one seen Southland, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues or Police Story? I’ve had 4 root canals and enjoyed each one of them more than this piece of . . . of . . . flotsam. I’d bet it’s a “pay or play” deal and Adam Goldberg (quality in the past) will get a huge payout.
i absolutely loved this show the vibe and set up was great and it kept me intrested. I wish i couldve seen more now i dont have a show to watch on sundays kinda sad…PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!:)
I loved this show I thought it was really coming together!
CBS this is a bad move to make.
This was a great show! I was actually looking forward to a continuation. All people want to see these days is the fake stuff. Go watch CSI then -_-
smh – so dissapointed!
former cop great show cbs has had so many crap shows that they keep on the air before, dont think there given it a fair shake, Bobby, find another venue please!!!!!!!!
STOP making cop shows!
