The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
I was very disappointed in hearing about the show being canceled. It was a fairly relistict showing of rookie cops. They should have tried a different time slot before taking it off the air. Speaking as an officer, I thought the show was great. I just hope another station will pick up the show.
This is proof that poor marketing will lead to the demise of a great show. I can hope that another network may pick this show up.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I really enjoy this show. DO NOT CANCEL!!!!!!
I enjoyed it. Great cast.
Good, the show was horrible and highly unrealistic.
bad time slot but i taped every episode so i could watch it the next day, or later in the week, some of us work for a living and dont stay up all night.
This was a good show that was put in a HORRIBLE time slot i loved this show
they should have put it on b4 csi mi then it would’ve had a shot…………
CBS…check you head! It’s a great show with diverse characters…apparently no one wants to watch real tv anymore (drama’s etc) opposed to “reality” programming.
The time slot sucked and they’ve let other stinkers go on for more than 5 episodes or green lit them for longer than this. I as well had to PVR the show or catch it online after air time due to the time slot. They should have introduced it in an existing shows time slot for the summer season to catch an audience there.
good show, My wife and I like it. I would like to meet the people that make these choices, I do not believe they live in the real world!
I thought this was a very good show. Reminded me of hill street blues. Every time I like a show it is taken away!
This was a good show that was put in a HORRIBLE timeslot and had no chance to gain an audience. I’m in the target demo, but I couldn’t watch it and had to tivo it due to the late late timeslot on a sunday night.
Too bad. The show had a new and fresh take on a old format. Great acting, great scripts, great look. Should have been given a chance to grow on a better time slot. Promotion of the show was handled terribly.
Tough time slot, I had to DVR it but looked forward to watching it the next day…
Really ? Cancelled after 4 episodes??? Why ?!?!?!? you did you start it on a Sunday night at 10:00 PM ???? It was a great show … I think CBS is making a huge mistake 🙁
Though it was a good show but just had to record it on the dvr. but it was the only thing good on tv with no football.
