The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
One of the better ones. Guess there just wasn’t enough sex and immorality. CBS you just don’t know a good thing when it right in front of you. You’re on your way out.
Has anyone give a thought that the shows cancelled by CBS were not that they were bad but that maybe people just don’t want to watch them on CBS ??????Maybe CBS should close its doors and let a good station take over, Just a thought!!!!
i thought the show was true to life and true to the streets and i was hooked on it.i wish they would have given it a chance….
Are you kidding me CBS!! NYC22 was going to be the best show!!
I am sad learning this, I really appreciated this show and I hope CBS would reconsider the decision…
CBS threw in the towel too soon. This show had potential and it wasn’t given the chance to build up a following. I thought the characters were strong and believable. Rookie Blue on the other hand is not believable at all. Everyone looks like a model and partners start knocking boots with each other from the start. How cliche. CBS, for what ever its worth, give us the last 3 episodes you made and then can the show if you don’t see an improvement. I think it will be a case of not knowing what you have until its gone.
HUGE mistake CBS this was the best show out there
This show was a sad copy of Rookie Blue which is a really good show. I tried NYC 22 because I am a cop show lover and am not surprised it has been cancelled.
Try Rookie Blue.
I think it was the casting……. I love police shows, but I just couldn’t relate with the cast of rookies. The plots were believable and show was well done, but I just couldn’t relate to the newbies
Please put nyc 22 back on….it was a great show!!!
I think that CBS should let this show play. It was a great show! They just gave it a horrible time slot and did not advertise it well. Guys, let it play! Keep it going at least for the rest of the season and then decide.
I loved this show. This is why I’m going to stop watching network tv I get into a show and they cancell it then they (the network ) wonder why ppl don’t watch the shows now I wasted a couble of weeks of getting a show that I can’t finish watching thanks CBS you guyz are just geniuses
I would like to ask that CBS give NYC 22 another chance. The actors and crew I’m sure are doing the best they can and I’m sure that all of us can think back in our lives and be thankful for someone taking a chance on ourselves and giving us a second chance to prove ourselves. I believe people will like the show if they are aware of it and take some time to watch it.
Thank you for your time
Scott
A fan of NYC 22 🙂
NOOOOOO i love this show even after 4 episodes! they cant cancel it!
They wind up cancelling every show I wind up getting into. Not cool, CBS
