The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
I am very disappointed this show went off the air. TV lately has too much junk on like the reality shows and the bachelor.
I agree
Sux!!! As another post said, you can’t get to know the show, the characters, or the actors before a show is canceled these days. There isn’t time for anyone to make a proper judgment. I thought Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, and Terry Kinney were great. (The others in the ensemble were good, as well. I just know more about these actors…so they stood out more.) Why bother watching television anymore? Everything I like gets canceled. The only shows that aren’t canceled (though I feel they should be…as they bore me to tears or just plain get on my nerves) are… Read more »
I thought the show was very good, excellent characters. Some of the story lines could have used some help. However I thought the show had a good core to build on. Now we’re stuck with Dogs in the City and such. We need good police drama. Give them more time.
Hardly time to get to know the characters. How can a proper judgement be made on a show in such a short period of time? It doesn’t seem fair to decide almost before the pilot aired!!!!
My wife and I are disappointed that the show got canceled. It seems that TV today has gone to the dogs. There’re no quality shows in my opinion and only giving the show three episodes at the 10 o’clock o’clock time slot is ridiculous. Someone must’ve had it in for them big time at the beginning. The longtime show CSI Miami as I guess when it’s course has run but replacing that with NYC 22 was a death blow as well. Quality TV is not reality shows, fat shows, contest shows or any the other garbage that is on TV… Read more »
my dad was chief of security at cbs tv nyc in 60 like the show and police women on it
Great show, never had a chance from the network, 10 pm time slot on sunday no less, not many people, going to tune in that late on sunday, people got to get up early for work, thats what eventually ended up being the downfall of CSI Miami. Just a bad timeslot, no show will ever be any good with that time slot. NYC 22, was good show, almost as good as Blue Bloods, also on CBS, and compairable to Rookie Blue on ABC. I love a good cop show, and NYC 22 was a good show, with the worst possible… Read more »
I’m pretty disappointed they cancelled this series—–NYC 22. This series was interesting from the beginning. I really enjoyed this series as it started. It was more interesting then some of the GAY series they show now a days. I mean really, where is the tv business comin to now a days. I don’t want to name the shows that should totally be cancelled off air because theres way to many to name, but I think NYC 22 had a chance at pleasing people. Just cause the stupid show/tv business is not gettin what they want doesn’t mean the show isn’t… Read more »
But what kind of business would be viable if they didn’t make money? A failing one. That’s what happened. NYC 22 failed.
I will miss NYC 22! I was hooked from the 1st episode and couldn’t wait for each new show. I am very disappointed.
I missed the pilot and didn’t even find the show until they did a back to back pilot and one episode. I saw advertisements for it back in March of Feburary but I had forgoten about it. I actually think this show was better than Rookie Blue. Rookie Blue gets distracted with over producing the characters. NYC 22 stuck more to the story and plot ie; crime. They droped the herky jerky camera angles of the failed Detroit cop show. It actually was as easy to watch as a Law and Order as far as visuals go. They should have… Read more »
I actually liked this show. That’s what I hate about TV, when I actually get into a show it ends up being cancelled. Well I guess I’ll try to watch Rookie Blue again, but I doubt I’d like it anymore then I did before. It just doesn’t peak my interest like this show did. CBS sucks!
Oops Rookies not Roomkies lol 🙂
Honestly I gave NYC 22 a chance but I’m not surprised it got cancelled. It was merely a rip off of Rookie Blue, which is an awesome show! I suggest you watch RB 🙂 you won’t regret it! I feel we can relate more to the characters and the plot is awesome 🙂 I feel the mistakes the roomkies made on NYC 22 were pretty crappy. Who goes into a domestic situation without backup? That just makes no sense and is unbelievable. Anyways, have a good day everyone and watch RB on thursdays <3 love me some good Canadian TV… Read more »
the show never even got the chance with only 3 episodes airing. it is typical CBS. They hardly give a new show a chance. All they are interested in is the same old CSI type shows. I do watch them but after a while something else would be interesting.
bring nyc22 back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was one of my favorite new shows. With all the crap on tv now, I can’t believe this one is going. BAD DECISION!!!
