The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
I will miss this show. I loved it and hopefully they will bring it back. I don’t think they gave it a chance.
I even loved the track by Melani Fiona featured on the 3rd show an artist which I never knew existed – in fact, I bought her CD last week and ordered another one that was not in stock. That would have never happened without the music being introduced to me by what I have labeled the best show on TV – NYC 22. Somebody got it right to air this show and somebody got it wrong to cancel the show. I feel like I’ve lost a friend – I wish I could purchase what was filmed and now not going… Read more »
I loved NYC 22 – after the Pilot show (which I DVR’d and watched at the same time the show was taping) I couldn’t wait until the next episode, then I read the show was being cancelled. I’m so disappointed. I DVR’d and marked the 3 shows… save until I delete. I have repeatedly watched the 3 episodes so many times. Please reconsider, please.
Allot has changed with TV since I was a kid. Back then color TV was still a big deal. Then came cable, VHS, DVD, and now HDTV.
But one thing hasn’t changed. Network execs are still pinheads that cancel good shows! Back then it was The Beverly Hillbillies and Gilligan’s Island. Today it’s CSI: Miami and NYC22. (The most awesome regular TV drama since NCIS)
Oh well!
It was an ok show. The only reason I watched it was because of Leelee Sobieski. Shes an amazing actress.
I knew from the getgo it wasnt going to last.
Id rather have it than a bunch of stupid reality shows!
i think it’s too bad ; i did like the show, please give it back
Cbs really sunday night sucks without this show it was one of my favirotes god damn
I guess this is why i can’t find it. Shame it was a good show. Not sure why netwroks cancel shows that are actual plot driven tv and keep all the silly reality shows.
CBS you stink! Always cancelling excellent shows! You do it time and time again!
NYC 22 Rocks! Way to Go Robert De Niro! I couldn’t wait to see the next episode each time I watched the show! Sign on with a different channel as NYC 22 shouldn’t be cancelled!!
Sincerely,
Italian girl from Chicago
i really miss that show, it was a great show that i liked alot!! give it back 😀
I am disappointed at CBS a show that was about something good and told what is currently going on in the world and it gets axed. Not good CBS.
CBS wake up! Sunday night TV needed this type of show. There was nothing like it in the Sunday evening line up. The cast was diverse enough to keep you getting to know them and leaving limitless future segments. C’mon. We all want more. Give it back!!!
This show was excellent, interesting and the cast varied.
There was no promotion for it and I found myself telling people about it and then their saying the same thing “Why did I never hear about this??”
Great use of NYC venues.
Terrible job CBS canceling it.
Sooooo disappointed! Was a great show!
Typicle of CBS. They have a bunch of idiots running that
Network.
