A NYPD Blue star is headed to Chicago. Esai Morales will join the cast of Chicago PD in a recurring role. His first appearance will be in a special crossover event with Chicago Fire and Chicago Justice on March 1.

The Hollywood Reporter shared the following about Morales’ role on the NBC drama:

“Morales will play Chief Lugo, a 30-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department who grew up and flourished in the “old style” policing methods of the department. Now, he’s doing his best as a chief to steer the CPD toward the new style of policing.”
