ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

This is Crazy!!!! I love this show all my friends and I would watch this show then talk about it the next day!! It is way better than Private Practice !!! I love Grays and have been a fan from day one but it is getting a little old. Off The Map was new and fresh it was different than any other medical show because it was not based in a US hospital setting, it was real than most of these stupid new dramas that are on now… I dont think ABC gave it a real chance it was also… Read more »

Stinks!!! Loved the show, I am not going to watch shows anymore until the 2nd season…don’t want to invest the time! They renewed some AWFUL shows!!!
Perhaps another timeslot…if people watch it, they will love it.

I am so dissapointed that Off the Map is going to be cancelled! I DVR’d most of the episodes and watched them at a different time due to other conflicts but I absolutely loved the show and the characters. I love Grey’s and Private Practice as well but this show had a different spin on medical dramas that I really liked.

Off the Map was honestly one of my favorite shows ever. Even as a big Grey’s fan, I can say it straddled the line of drama and medicine beautifully. So disappointed to see it go. I’ll miss Brenner, Fuller, and Minard greatly.
I love this show! It was so action packed and the love stories were great too! I can’t believe we will never find out what happens next…such a disappointment.
Oh my gosh how could you cancel this wonderful show?? I absolutely loved it, even better than Grey’s Anatomy!!!! Cause the characters are from a different background, and the location made it such a fresh new environment to watch, instead of the ‘normal’ hospital setting! PLEASE bring Off The Map back!!!! It was awesome!!!

this is unbelievable!!!!!! my mom and i watched this every wednesday after church. it was one of the only tv series on that didnt have so much profanity. it was really good! it always ended with you wanting to know what happened next.
Sooo disappointed that Off the Map was cancelled!! PLEASE let it get picked up by another network!
