Despite ever falling ratings, ABC’s not willing to give up on Pan Am — at least not publicly anyway.
At today’s ABC portion of the Television Critics Association Press Tour, network president Paul Lee reflected, “When it opened, it really brought a good audience to it.”
He then noted, “I think there’s a lot of goodwill toward the show. It’s a great cast. We have new and original shows right through the end of February and it’ll be in contention past that.”
Lee chose not to focus on the fact that, while Once Upon a Time and Desperate Housewives saw big gains following the winter break, Pan Am hit a new series low. The freshman series drew just a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million total viewers.
The recent airing brought the season average down to a 1.9 in the demo and 6.16 million, registering a “D+” on our ABC report card. Aside from Body of Proof, it’s the least watched show on the network that hasn’t been cancelled yet.
ABC initially ordered 13 episodes but then asked for one more. Only four episodes remain for this season, and likely the series. It’s slated for February 19th.
What do you think? Is ABC still considering a future for Pan Am or is it all but officially cancelled?

I love this show, please don’t cancel it!
We really missed seeing this show when it was ditched for something much less good last Sunday night, January 29th. Please bring it back, at least with the further episodes you’ve already got. ABC Management has goofed very, very badly by dropping this fine show. Please reverse that really bad decision. Thanks!
Please don’t cancel this show. I love it.
I really look forward to Sunday nights.
I love everything about this show.
The clothes, the cars, the actors, the story line.
PLEASE DON’T TAKE THIS OFF THE AIR.
Pan Am is such a refreshing change from all the mind numbing shows and reality TV that seem to be all the rage these days. I long for the day when networks will stop cancelling intelligent, well thought out shows, just to replace them with shows that are undoubtedly inferior. I get that the networks have to make money, but when they aren’t backing quality shows with proper advertising and promotion, and swapping air dates on the show’s following, they are doing the show and themselves a disservice. Gone are the days when a show actually is allowed a full… Read more »
It would be a great shame to see this series end.
This show is around the same time as Mad Men and has potential to be just as interesting.
It’s different from all the CSI shows. There’s good acting and interesting story lines plus it’s very retro with the furniture, costumes, and attitudes of those times. Don’t cancel!
I really love this show!! It’s the only series I watch. Please don’t cancel it….give it another chance.
This show is a women’s Mad Men. It definitely appeals to many women and I find the plot lines and drama to be gripping! Please don’t cancel this show…it’s actually the only new drama that I watch right now!
I hope it stays…just love watching it and it’s getting better and better..pls don’t cxl it
I love this show and I really hope that it is not cancelled. Even if I’m not home when it comes on I have the series set to record. This is one of the best new shows on this season.
My husband and I both love this show. We look forward to each episode. Please don’t cancel it!
I hope it’s not over. I love it!
I really hope it lives.
It’s a great show, my favorite to premiere this year! I see so much potential in it and I look forward to it every week!! This reminds me of American Dreams a few years back. Great show, just not getting enough credit. I really hope it stays!!!
Here they go again, (abc) skipping next Sunday.
How do they expect to keep viewers for this really great show.
I hope it stay’s.
