Though it’s been in danger of being cancelled each year, Parenthood has survived for five seasons. Will it see a sixth year or will this be the end? We’ll have a better idea as the weeks progress.
Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Parenthood has been renewed for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes.
Final season averages: 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Parks and Recreation averaged a 1.8 rating in the demo and 4.98 million viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Parenthood TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
Sadly, NBC is canceling one of the absolute BEST tv shows of all time! I look forward to Thursdays every single week, because I know, after a long hectic day called life, I can relax and unwind to the Braverman family. I laugh, I cry and just escape in the show. This is definitely going to be a sad day in MANY households, when Thursdays are no longer “Parenthood Night!”
parenthood is the best show I’ve ever watched. & I have a lot of favorites shows. Along with One Tree Hill, this show is so real. It revolves around real life issues, everyone can relate with it’s characters. From heartbreak, disease, addiction, divorce, etc. this show is real. Please reconsider canceling this show. I feel like there are thousands-millions of people who can relate, this will devastate so many viewers. Please don’t take away the one good show on TV.
Please please don’t cancel parenthood…rarely do we have tv shows on that are surrounded but actual ways of life. This is a WONDERFUL family show. Please reconsider your lineup. Having these shows on in the summer would probably effect ratings, a lot of people are much to busy in the summer to sit down and watch tv. Look into running it in the winter and spring…KEEP IT ON !!!
I am really upset that Parenthood is being cancelled. It seems that good wholesome shores just don’t last long anymore. Can’t understand why?? Can’t watch most trash that the networks are choosing to play.
With everything available to watch on cable TV I’m sorry
To say I just discovered Parenthood and fallen in love with it
Only to find out this is the final season. 🙁
I was so disappointed to learn that Parenthood is in it’s farewell season. It’s rare that you find a television show that is so well written, the acting is superb and believable. The situations in the show are realistic , the actors bring the characters to life.
It was refreshing to watch a show that dealt with real issues, and had the courage to tackle difficult subjects…..autism and Asberger’s to name a couple.
There are hundreds of shows that should have been canceled before Parenthood, starting with reality tv programming.
It is stupid to take Parenthood off the air. It is literally one of the best shows on tv!
There are few things I look forward to and Parenthood is one. I love this show! I’m just sorry it all boils down to numbers…how many people watch, how much money it makes. To me 4 million viewers matter. M

I do not watch much TV but this is one show that I watch faithfully and love it so much. I feel like I “know” the characters and they are part of my family and yes, I do have a life…..LOL. Besides Friday Night Lights, this will be the only show in my 58 years of living on this earth, that I will truly feel sad about being cancelled.
