Murphy Brown is back on TV. Deadline reports that Candice Bergen will be returning to television in the ABC sitcom pilot, Pearl.

The comedy comes from writer Andrew Reich and director Jim Field Smith.

Bergen will be playing the eponymous Pearl, “a larger-than-life family matriarch who, after she finds out she has cancer, becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family’s life before she dies.”

This will be Bergen’s first starring role on television since Boston Legal ended in 2008.
