TV show description:
This TV show revolves around Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), an eccentric and brilliant neuroscience professor. Unfortunately, his mind is also damaged and he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Pierce struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia. Oddly though, he considers some of his hallucinations to be a gift. They occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can’t yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Pierce’s greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways.
Still, he’s recruited by FBI agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) to help solve complex cases. Pierce has an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the way the mind works. He also has an uncanny ability to see patterns and can look past people’s conscious emotions to see what lies beneath. Kate is Pierce’s former student and, unlike her colleagues, she’s willing to look past his peculiarities.
Pierce’s mental condition and offbeat manner make it difficult for him to achieve the close friendships and intimate relationships he craves.
Those close to him include Max Lewicki (Arjay Smith), his teaching assistant. Max’s primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task, whether that means grading midterms or laying out his boss’ wardrobe for the day. Natalie Vincent (Kelly Rowan) is Pierce’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal. Paul Haley (LeVar Burton) is the dean at Pierce’s university and one of his few friends.
Pierce is in his element when solving an intricate puzzle or a coded message. But in unfamiliar situations, he can quickly become overwhelmed, and only his favorite music and a crossword puzzle have the power to make things right again.
Episode #39 — Run
When Moretti goes missing the day of her wedding, Pierce and Donnie set off in pursuit of the runaway bride. They soon learn that Kate has been abducted by a dangerous person from Pierce’s own past. Pierce and Donnie risk everything to save Moretti before it’s too late.
First aired: March 17, 2015
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I watch very few shows on tv but this is one of them. I love the writing and the characters and the show teaches us to treat those who are mentally ill with compassion. Please don’t cancel the show!
this is a great show. dramatic, funny, educational. its got everything. would had to lose it.
I have really enjoyed watching this show. I can believe they are cancelling a good show. I can’t believe an adult is making this decision.
I can’t believe that this show would be cancelled!!! I’m so tired shows like “Honey Boo Boo” plus all these stupid reality shows like The Bachelor. Now you an AWESOME show like Perception and they cancel it. WOW what a mistake! As a future therapist this show helped people remove the stigma of such mental disorders for a much more positive view!!!!
Ahhhhwww…. noooooo…..Perception is such a fantastic teaching tool for people with mental disorders and people who have family and friends who are suffering from these disorders. Each story in Perception is well-researched. I have personally learned so much from this series. Bring back the series please and continue writing new stories. If ONE-TREE-HILL could have 9 seasons, so can Perception. Ps. I like the way that Daniel Pierce take on food corporations and point out nutrition vs. mental health. There is a definite link and the public should be informed. This is what I love about Rizzoli and Isles also… Read more »
please keep this show running…very interesting…always enjoyable and kept you thinking.
Once again, a good show bites the dust. Perception caused people to think. It was entertaining, grabbed your attention, very good show. Thanks for nothing, TNT, unless you bring it back.
TNT needed to keep this series. It is one of the best out there. Damn them!!!!!!!!!
I am shocked that TNT has cancelled Perception! It is the best show on TV. I cannot believe it will not be renewed. They didn’t promote it as much as they did Rizzoli and Isles which is a good show too. As a retired therapist, I have to say that Eric McCormack is a brilliant actor who portrays this character of Dr. Pierce so convincingly. I think TNT is making a huge mistake not continuing and promoting this show in the manner it deserves. The entire cast is wonderful as well — Rachel Leigh Cook, Levar Burton and Arjay Smith… Read more »
I LOVE this show. It is another example of a show that makes you think being take off the air! Eric McCormack is so good. Please bring this show back.
Well, once again TNT has proven that they have NO regard for the fans of their shows. First they cancel DALLAS, leaving all the fans with more unanswered questions than any four show would–not to mention seemingly killing off one of the main stars. And now they cancel one of the best shows on TV–PERCEPTION! And yet again the main star was seemingly blown up at the end! Come on, TNT, at least have the decency to finish what you started, and give the fans a proper ending. OR BETTER YET, JUST BRING IT BACK! It’s a great show, and… Read more »
Please don’t cancel “Perception”. It is one of the best dramas on TV. Why do they cancel the best shows?
TNT has erred in cancelling this show. One of the best on TV. Bring it back!!
I really liked Perception. Daniel’s character was well conceived and complex. His classes seemed to be well-received by the students and had both content and humor. The detective plots were different and very well written.
you cannot take this show off. Eric was absolutely perfect as the character he played. waited every week for this show. why did you do this??
I really like the show and keep looking for it. When will it be on again?
