Shows like The Flash and Arrow have been performing very well in the ratings for The CW. Now, NBC is trying their own show that’s based in the DC Comics universe but this one is a comedy. Will the Powerless TV series be a success for the peacock network? Will it be quickly cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
The Powerless TV show follows Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens). She’s the new Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. She’s full of confidence and has big ideas but Emily quickly discovers those are a bit beyond her new boss, Vanderveer “Van” Wayne (Alan Tudyk), the black sheep of his family. Her well-meaning officemates include Chief Design Officer Teddy (Danny Pudi), Chief Engineer Ron (Ron Funches), and Jackie (Christina Kirk), Van Wayne’s beleaguered and long-suffering executive assistant.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
4/25 update: NBC has pulled Powerless off the schedule. It is likely cancelled. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Powerless TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
5/11 update: There will be no season two of Powerless. NBC has officially cancelled the show. Details here.
Powerless has been cancelled! NBC finally got smart. Thank you to all who boycotted it with me. TV just got a little better.
This show was not the best thing on Air but it was funny and entertaining show that was better than most garbage on TV. I bet you wished it was a new Big Brother or Bachelor spin off. Just because it is not your cup of tea doesn’t mean you need to rain on everyone else’s parade because you’re inadequate in life and need to ruin other peoples day to make yourself feel better. The same people who dislike this show are probably the same people who post Vlogs about Trump being the devil and how, despite all signs saying… Read more »
Worst of the worst on the garbage dump that is network TV. Don’t bother canceling it; kill your tv.
The shows do have plots. People must have kindergarten education to say there is no plot. Also the humor is loosely based off the Justice League International comicbook series which pretty much saved DC from going out of business. Now, I admit the show is still finding it’s footing but give it time. Hopefully, the producers will borrow more from that book and Justice League Europe otherwise, well…
Does this account for the views on Hulu also? That’s where I watch Powerless. This is the funniest show since Married with Children or Two and aHalf Men. But as typical the great shows get cancelled while crap like Chrisly knows Jack gets renewed.
I watch it on hulu too since i cant catch it on tv due to either working or taking care of my kid. I thought it was pretty funny. I dont usually like the super hero shows but this one caught my attention.
Is the kind of show that NBC expects us to like. It’s totally stupid. The writing is that of a 2 year olds, and that’s being really mean to 2 year olds. The ratings are awful and it’s sure to get axed but it’s shocking that this show is still viewed by so many people when some great shows get less viewers.
And it’s shows like this that are the reason I dumped NBC.
This show is utter garbage. The promos made it look decent but I tried watching the pilot and couldn’t make it to seven minutes. The jokes were stupid, near Disney Channel level (but not even that good). If this is the kind of crap comedy NBC will continue to put out I’m done. What happened to The Office, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, etc. NBC better step it up!!
They stepped it up with ‘The Good Place’ this year. How ’bout you give that one a shot?
While I love the characters and all the actors who portray them, there is no central plot. I understand the show is a sitcom, but even within a single episode there is often no focus, and unfortunately the show, which had plenty of potential, suffers for it. I would love a renewal and possibly a different showrunner to further explore said potential, but sadly that’s pretty unlikely.
Awful show.
It would have been better if they were insurance adjusters. I read that was the early premise. The “Emily Dates a Henchman” was the last straw for me. It seemed really really really bad. It is a shame, too, because most of the actors in it are great. Cancel it now and block it out of your memory. lol
cancel it pleeeease
Sorry but I could not make it through the first show. Cancel please!
Not the start they were looking for im sure… ‘Powerless’ has potential but it needs a lot of work and ratings will need to grow, because if they dip any lower than they started you can go ahead and call this a one and done. It’s originality should win it points tho, I’m hoping they can tweak it enough to make it work.
