Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Proof TV show on TNT? If you ran the cable channel, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
Please keep this amazing series
I just lost my husband of the years and your show has helped me deal with my grief. I find the concept for the show very intriguing.
Yeah, this should be picked up on the quality alone.
Loving that coveted demo of brain dead millennials!
This show is not for them, but does TNT know drama?
That’s the question! Lets see how hypocritical they are.
I’d like to add that on multiple platforms Proof
sees about 7 million people each week.
Love this show! I really do hope it gets a second season. I too have had my fill of reality TV. Shows like Proof are entertaining and thought provoking at the same time. Love it!
I just lost my husband of 51 years and your show has helped me deal with my loss. I find the concept for the show very intriguing.
The show let’s you jump beyond the here and now. To the possibly of what could be. I should be dead as in 09 I went into a diabetic coma. My level was 1,600. You can die at 500. First thing my daughter asked was did i see anything. Because i did not die i did not. This show lets me open my mind to what maybe. Keep the show.
Watched the season finally tonight and I love this show. Really do hope it is brought back for a new season.
Please keep the series! We are hooked and looked forward to it each week. Please bring it back!!!!!
Please keep Proof on. It has a good story line and makes one think about the possibilities of what happens after death.
Our family enjoys the show so please keep it on air. My husband and I watch it faithfuly every Tuesday night. It’s a very good drama and keeps us guessing as to what might happen next. Pleade, please keep it!
Being a Christian, I really enjoy this show. I think the actors do an excellent job presenting facts about “end of life events”. It would be a shame to lose such good talent to another show that might not be as interesting or enjoyable. The show they are putting in this time slot next week, Public Morals, is, from what the previews show, about the Mafia and involves crime, murder, sex, etc. I’d much rather watch Proof than Public Morals! I certainly hope they renew “Proof” for a 2nd season, even if they put it on another day or different… Read more »
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. Bragin blew it out of the water with this finale.
Hope it gets renewed. Lots more to explore and discover. Great new show.
Love the show please renew it.
Live the show please renew it.
Please keep this program going. We seniors need programs that we can wrap our arms around. Too much Reality TV that is difficult to wrap much of anything around for seniors. Please think of us and keep this very good program with much to offer. Thank you!!
