What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, Pure Genius is a high-tech medical drama. At Bunker Hill Hospital, Silicon Valley tech titan, James Bell (Augustus Prew), pairs brilliant medical minds with technology gurus and sidesteps bureaucracy in the interest of saving lives — including his own. Bell enlists an exceptional, yet controversial veteran surgeon, Dr. Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) to help him revolutionize health care. As Chief of Staff, Dr. Wallace oversees a trail-blazing team including the candid Dr. Zoe Brockett (Odette Annable); the idealistic and overly literal neurosurgeon, Dr. Talaikha Channarayapatra (Reshma Shetty); former gangbanger Dr. Malik Verlaine (Aaron Jennings); intense neurologist Dr. Scott Strauss (Ward Horton); and tech genius Angie Cheng (Brenda Song).
Season One Ratings

On May 15, 2017, it was revealed that Pure Genius has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for updates.
Telly’s Take
While CBS has not officially cancelled Pure Genius, this medical drama’s prognosis is grim. In November of 2016, after just four installments had aired, the network passed on ordering the back nine episodes of Pure Genius, season one. The only CBS TV show it outperforms in the demo is Elementary. Right now, it looks like the Pure Genius (likely series) finale will air on January 26th. Barring a miracle, CBS will cancel Pure Genius. I have started circling this one and am all but certain there will be no season two.

Please do not cancel Pure Genius. It is a “feel good” tv show and we need entertainment like this. The actors are great and the story lines are so engaging.

My husband and I have watched every episode of Pure Genius, and love the show. We look forward to it each week. Please do not cancel this show!
This show seriously needs a season 2. I dont understand why people aren’t into this series when it’s so much different to the typical dramas out there. Also there isn’t the typical relationship drama and sex **** that all others has. This show is about Advanced medicine. About hope, about helping others no matter what. This show is so much more positive than other medical dramas and I know the others are good, but they all the same. This is unique. Its full of emotion. This show needs to stay on.
I am not in the target demographic, so I imagine that my opinion will not count, and that I think is wrong on too many levels. But I love Pure Genius! Please do not cancel the show, especially if it is to bring on yet another reality show! Those I have seen more than enough of them.
Please do not cancel Pure Genius. It is one of the few shows that gives hope to the human condition. It raises questions whether the end justifies the means (James giving an unapproved drug to a patient on death’s door who is miraculously responding). It weaves medicine and technology together in the quest for new cures. It shows the patients as human beings with hopes and fears. What an amazing show! Give the show another shot-maybe at a better time slot. Pure Genius is a real gem!
I seldom watch medical TV shows, but Pure Genius caught my interest, and I watched and enjoyed every episode. Please don’t cancel it.
Please please please do not cancel. I am a mother of four who actually hates tv. I seen a preview while kids were watching tv and I had to watch it. This show has an amazing cast and a fantastic plot. I finally had something to look forward to each week. Please give it a chance. I think another season to get it out there will give people a chance to see just how wonderful this show is.
Dear CBS, don’t cancell pure genius!! It’s our favorite show and it didn’t even get to end or finish up. I need to show, it give me inspiration and it’s flat out a grest show. Please go on with the show or season 2. Nothing could replace the story and the characters. Nothing will ever live up to this show. The ball is in your court CBS.
