ABC cancelled the Pushing Daisies TV series after two seasons totaling 22 episodes. Even Ned’s (Lee Pace) magic touch couldn’t bring it back to life (or perhaps — he touched it twice). Co-star Anna Friel, who played Ned’s untouchable love interest, Charlotte ‘Chuck’ Charles, would jump at the chance to revive this cancelled-too-soon show, at least as a movie. For the love of apple pie, someone get Netflix on the phone!
Per Friel, the Pushing Daisies cast, which also included Chi McBride, Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jim Dale (as narrator), loved doing the series.
Here’s more from Digital Spy:
“We should all get together and do a Pushing Daisies movie or something,” [Friel] said to Digital Spy.
“Every single member of the cast [loved it], and the fans are very passionate about it.”
Anna added that the series stayed away from becoming a procedural drama, despite its crime element.
“It was more of a love story, and the beauty of that world was more fascinating than the crime. The crime was just added on – you’ve always got to be careful tonally of turning into a procedural.
“That scares me off, I think, ‘Oh my god, they’re gonna pretend it’s not a procedural and then add lots of fluff around to kid you and then you sign for six years’. But it was never the case with Pushing Daisies.”
For those readers unfamiliar with Pushing Daisies, the facts are these…
As a child, Ned realizes he can revive the dead with a touch. However, if he touches that person a second time, they will die and cannot be revived, again. Whenever Ned resurrects someone for more than a minute, someone nearby will die. He learns this, sadly, when he revives his mom, which kills girl-next-door Chuck’s father.
Ned’s ability leads him to isolate, despite the amorous aims of waitress Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth), who works at his pie shop, the Pie Hole.
P.I. Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) finds out about Ned. Emerson convinces him to use his power, to solve murder cases (and collect the rewards). Ned momentarily revives victims and asks who killed them, before touching them a second time — in less than a minute — to avoid killing off a nearby innocent.
When Chuck is murdered on a cruise ship, Ned revives her to solve her murder, but can’t bear the thought of putting her down, again. Hiding Chuck’s resurrection from her devastated aunts, Lily and Vivian Charles (Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene), manages to be both funny and heartbreaking.

Please please please bring this show back! It was perfect.
This show was visually stunning, smart, and clever. We need more!! One of my all-time favorite shows!
This show is one of my all-time favorites. We need more!!!!
This got me through my AS-Levels. It was an escape for me until now because I have just watched the final episode! WHAT A GREAT PROGRAM! Bring it back! We should all get this trending somehow, try to revive such a great show. The cast are amazing, it’s so sad abc didn’t give them chance again 🙁 #RevivePushingDasies
Still the best thing I’ve seen Anna Friel in. Bring it back… now!
Pushing Daisies is my favourite show ever. I would pay an obscene amont of money for a movie or another season.
This HAS to happen!! I loved Pushing Daisies so much and regularly binge watch it again and again just to get my fix!!
“What’s good for the foxhole is good for the Pie Hole.”
I agree this show would be a great show to revive. They spend all this money on all these other shows to revive, I think this one would be a great one to revive, just because it would be more interesting to a wide range of fans. I don’t think it was on long enough to have a chance. Plus it was on a bit before its time, I think it would be more appreciated now.
This was a good show. We still talk about the pie man. Funny, touching, sad, but worthy of my time viewing. It was ended too soon.
Yes, yes, yes. Bring back “Pushing Daisies”! Great show, great cast…
It was such a beautiful show! I was heart broken when it was cancelled. I’d love to see it come back, as well as Fuller’s other shows Hannibal and Wonderfalls. It’s crazy how all of his shows were cancelled so soon. He is a very creative writer.
ABC didn’t give it a chance. I would love to see it revived!!! BUT with the same cast.
Oh, yes, MJO. It would have to have the same cast. They were magical, together.
I loved this show and was so sad when it was cancelled. It was inventive and funny, sweet and creative. A movie would be great but a series even better.
I feel the same way, Wendy B.
Yes…please bring back this show! I was so disappointed when it was cancelled!!
