Last year, the ratings for Revenge hit new lows but ABC renewed it anyway — likely so that there would be enough episodes for a syndication package. How are things going this season? Have the ratings improved or is it time for the series to end?
Things have changed on this season of Revenge but Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) still have plenty of reasons to hate each other. The rest of the show’s cast includes Gabriel Mann, Nick Wechsler, Josh Bowman, Christa B. Allen, James Tupper, and Karine Vanasse.
The first season of Revenge averaged a 2.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.8 million viewers. The second season dropped to a 2.2 rating and 7.0 million. Last season took an even bigger tumble and the ratings averaged a 1.6 in the demo with 5.9 million viewers.
Unfortunately, this season is performing even worse. The episodes that have aired thus far have averaged a 1.2 rating with 4.9 million. It’s the network’s lowest-rated drama and second-lowest rated scripted series (below Friday’s Cristela sitcom).
Based on the ratings, there seems to be little reason for ABC to continue renewing Revenge. If this is indeed the final season (as it’s rumored to be), hopefully the cast and crew will wrap up the series in a satisfying way.
What do you think? Do you think it’s time for Revenge to end? If you ran the network, would you cancel it or keep it going for a fifth season?
Storylines that I would like to see: I would love to see Emily and Victoria be forced to work together in some capacity against a larger threat or maybe to help or save David. Also, although I loved seeing Emily & Daniel sharing screen time again, I would love to review the Jack Daniel love triangle. I do think they are desperately trying to redeem Daniel’s character this year, maybe to support a Emily-Daniel reunion! But I still miss the chemistry Emily had with Jack in the first season. Charlotte’s character needs a re-boot, I am hoping that she did… Read more »
Although Revenge has been my favorite show to date, nothing will ever live up to the first season, which was a masterpiece. It’s a bit unfair to judge a show against itself, but I think that has been the downfall of the show. The first season was just too good! Even 3 seasons later I am absolutely glued to the TV every Sunday- even when the Packers are playing! The writers always keep us guessing and I love Victoria’s formidable character! We still root for Emily and want to see her story continue until she can find happiness and come… Read more »
This show should have been cancelled after season 2 or 3. Season 1 was good, season 2 a mess, season 3 even worse and now this season is beyond laughable. We tune in just to see how idiotic it has become and fast forward through useless scenes. The problem with the show are side characters who add nothing (Amanda’s foster brother, Victoria’s long lost son, Jack’s partner). Aiden was painful to watch. Conrad was the best character and the actor probably realized it was time to bail ship. This theme of everyone taking revenge on everyone else is boring. My… Read more »
I love season 4! The show was great in season 1, but lost its way after the Labor Day murder (as if they initially had only the first 13-15 episodes mapped out and then started coming up with filler ways how to extend the original premise). Season 2 was convoluted mess (no wonder the show took the biggest tumble after it) and in season 3 it improved (especially after the fall finale and towards the end – the takedown of Conrad was riveting). I was afraid what they would do in season 4, but I’m relieved to see the show… Read more »
If Revenge gets canceled I will die!!!! Revenge is the best show ever!! Season 4 is amazing so far!!! Amazing acting by the entire cast!!!
No please do not cancel it. All the shows I like are being cancelled constantly. It’s very disheartening.
I love this show. In my opinion, the better, perhaps deeper shows aren’t appreciated by the masses. The mainstream seems to go for simple less complicated plots with more instant gratification. I sincerely hope this show will be renewed. It really is a good one!
The first season of Revenge was awesome. But season 2 wasn’t as good and season 3 wasn’t any better. So far, this season has been beyond awful. The fact that David is alive is beyond stupid. And I ff through so many scenes – anything doing with Daniel and Margo, Jack and that new cop (what is the point?)….and I can’t stand Charlotte. I’m only still watching because I hear it’s the last season and I do want to see how it ends for Emily. This should be the last season and they should end it with a nice little… Read more »
Have never missed an episode of this show. Am enjoying it more than ever this season. The storyline is great! Hoping it doesn’t end with a cliffhanger and then get cancelled. If that’s the plan, just let the show end with a great series finale. No loose ends!
Honestly I am not sure if I would keep watching. I have been watching since the beginning and it started off strong but I really believe there were too many casualties way too fast. Now it just seems like I don’t know who is after revenge now. Now Emily/Amanda’s father is back from the dead. Now he wasn’t revenge for his daughter’s death but she is a live living next door. It is just getting too confusing. I hope it gets better but if not go out with a great ending that fans can be happy about.
I’ll watch it if it’s picked up again, but if they decide to cancel it, then so be it. I’m tired of alll the new characters though… Like the new girl from the sanitarium and Jack’s cop partner…. what’s the deal w/them? They’re both pretty sneaky.
I miss Conrad, his come backs w/Victoria were a hoot. But I don’t miss Aiden… Emily/Amanda belongs w/Jack. Like everyone else said …. if you do end it, give us all a decent adios….wrap up ALL the stories… and give Nolan a GIRLFRIEND! He’s always been my favorite character.
I like revenge and have watched it from season one. Let tje truth come out and get Emily together with Jack and it will turn around….
I do agree the story is weaker so far this season but is getting better. The network rarely runs promos for the show so that can’t help. Every person I mention the show to loves it. Plus the latest numbers show it bear the competition on CBS in the key 18 to 49 demo.
I get excited every Sunday to watch what will happen next. It still keeps me wanting more every week. Do not cancel show. You would be dumb to not renew it now with the way the show has finally brought David back.
Please keep this show on the air
