The 10-episode first season of the Roadies TV show premiered on Showtime, June 26, 2016. Executive producer Winnie Holzman talks about the possibilities a second season of Roadies might bring. Holzman previously worked on TV series including Huge, which was cancelled after one season on ABC Family (now Freeform), Once and Again, which was cancelled after one season on ABC, and My So-Called Life which was also cancelled after one season on the Alphabet Network.
A musical comedy drama series from Cameron Crowe, the Roadies TV series has yet to be renewed for season two. The cast includes: Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker, and Ron White.

Are you thinking ahead to future seasons? Would this group of people stay with this band for multiple tours?
HOLZMAN: I think that will be up to Cameron and the conversations we have with Showtime, but we feel very elastic about it. We feel like we could stay with this band and continue. You could have it that a lot of these roadies end up on another tour. You could have it that they end up in another tour. I think it would be fun to mix it up. I can picture playing it out so many different ways, and I think that’s part of the fun of this show. You could keep this core group of roadies together, but you could have various things happen.
Here is more on the first season of the Roadies TV series, from Showtime:
The series gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of roadies who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. ROADIES chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and pays homage to the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring for the successful arena-level group, The Staton-House Band.
What do you think? Have you been watching the first season of Roadies? How would you like a second season to play out? Should Roadies be cancelled or renewed? Tell us.
Where else are you going to get such great music on television? Lindsay Buckingham? Jackson B? Gary Clark, Jr? Eddie Vedder? Would love to see some seasoned female singers on the show, although the young ones like Halsey are great. But how about some Carly or Carole King? Fab show, hope it’s renewed.
I loved seeing Jackson Brown on the Load Out. I always remember him for the song that he plays at the end and it made me visualize an empty space which had once been filed with music and crowds of people. In the song, .you just think about someone playing piano and holding onto the memory of that show. Plus, the references to Warron Zevon, of whom I am such a great fan, urged me to pull out some CDs and listen to Warren. The writing was brilliant, the cast was superb. I watched The Affair and had to MAKE… Read more »
I have enjoyed the show immensely, I really hope everything can be worked out for season 2. I loved the guest artists, I found several new groups and artists to listen to. I looked forward to each new show. I think that the season is totally binge worthy! I have told everyone I know something about the show during the season. Please it back!
I really enjoyed the show. The characters the storyline and the music. Keep the band and send them on tour in Europe. Add more music and keep the core roadies Add new characters and tour different countries. The show was great fun. !!!
I felt all along that the criticism was undeserved. The show was sincere, not saccharine, and very much captured the spirit of Crowe’s “Almost Famous”. Only in the modern era of cynicism about everything could such a fun, romantic take on the world of the road be hit the way this show was. Watch it and love it.
One of the best things I have seen on TV in about forever…
This show is a breathe of fresh air!! I’m so dissapointed to hear a second season might not happen. As a fellow music lover this show pulls at all the right heart strings…. I love the different perspective of it from the roadies point of view. Fingers crossed for another season!
RENEW ROADIES! Love it, all the characters. Lots of potential story lines and groups! Loved Phil’s funeral! What a send off!
First time I’ve ever been compelled to write about a show. I loved roadies and am hoping and optimistically looking forward to season 2!!! I’ll say a little prayer for all concerned it gets renewed.
Thanks enjoyed the writing and acting very much.
I enjoyed the first season of Roadies. The show continued to improve as the season went along or I became more involved. The show certainly had a relationship quality to it. I would certainly enthusiastically watch a second season.
I really enjoyed the show and am very distressed that it might not be renewed. The overall quality in every dimension has been top tier and I would rank it in the top 10% all TV I’ve ever watched.
This show takes me back to the 80s arena concert days sitting stage left wondering about the roadies setting up and taking down…and what it might be like and what the camaraderie might be like. This show is the answer for me even if fictional. It brings a taste of the traveling road crew with the band as the backdrop. I think it will only get better and I hope old and new faces are back in a season two. Rock on and let’s keep this train rolling Showtime. I love the change of pace after Ray Donovan!
I have been watching Roadies on Showtime and am enjoying it. I love all the music.. “live” and the soundtrack! Great artists.. and music history. Thank-you for that. I’m also a fan of Cameron Crow and the talented cast. Even if it turns out that it’s done it will have been added to my top all time favorite shows list. A second season however, is another opportunity to enjoy and look forward to seeing what’s happening with the band and their Roadies. The portrayal of the stage work is realistic while being brief and entertaining. I’m partial to that aspect… Read more »
Love the show! Have never commented on anything like this, but am sick of good shows like Roadies being cancelled without giving it a chance. Excellent, bright, intelligent and great actors. Please don’t cancel!!
Please many more seasons! Love the music. This is the first show I have been excited about watching since House. I’m so sick of reality shows, please don’t cancel Roadies!! It’s intelligently clever, with a little bit of everything to hold my interest. I have gotten many of my friends to pay for Showtime because of this show. It will catch on big after a few more good episodes to start the 2nd season. I just happen to catch the 2nd episode one night and I was hooked. Give it another chance..
Love the show and the music is great. Hoping for another season
