The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

do these posts eventually (ever?) get to the AMC executives? is there any point in commenting on this
it stuns me that AMC is not re-newing this show. I love it and suspect there are MANY who feel the same way. Why is this not being re-new?
Absolutely bring this series back! It was the best of the best….to get all of us hooked on this interesting show then no second season! What are you thinking? PLEASE bring it back!s
I’m very disappointed that this terrific, first-rate political thrill will not be coming back. I was so looking forward to it. PLEASE reconsider!!!
Rubicon and the Commander in Chief series provided intelligent television entertainment. When one flips through the channels these days most are left with listening to their favorite music, rather than watching TV. What made the Commander in Chief and Rubicon such great stories were obviously seasoned writters and actors who could and still do deliver masterful performances. Unless TV executives realize not everyone is 16-21 they will make a wise choice to bring back Rubicon and the Commander in Chielf television series; instead of continuing to go through the what-ever-it-is-called: Oh, why don’t we just create something new for TV… Read more »
Rubicon was absolutely the best series TV show of the last three years. If it is not renewed and continued for at least five years, AMC is piloted by low-brow troglodytes.
Please bring Rubicon back. It gets you thinking and makes your brain work. Unlike the junk shows that deal with drugs and the dead. Please enough junk. Keep Rubican. Advertise it more like you do with the shows.
I cannot stand this. I hate this. Every time I have a favorite show, it is canceled or ruined. What is the world coming to when there aren’t even 1 million intelligent people in the world. I watched Walking Dead, and I’m watching The Killing, but these shows just aren’t on the same level. I probably wouldn’t be watching them if I wasn’t patiently waiting for Rubicon’s return. Rubicon was the reason I started watching AMC at all. Now that I know it wasn’t renewed, I’ll probably stop watching AMC all together. Rubicon was the most complicated, fast moving, mysterious,… Read more »
We are Scottish, we have the BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4 and its been shunted to BBC 4 a digital channel, we dont have satelite channels, but we have a T.V. guide. if we have a T.V. show that seems interesting then we watch, That was RUBICON. what do we have to do to stop t.v. companies from canceling good programmes. If we pay for a product as consumers, then of we pay for a tv programme as we do in the UK, then can we Sue if the producers dont deliver???
Hell Yes I want to see this return! Why does this battle continue every season. A truly bright ,well written ,thought provoking series appears, hooks us and then the powers that be rip it out from under our newly addicted noses! This process stinks. Is there a shred of hope for us and this show? Ive told so many to watch this. Ho Hum
Is the best serie. Please, return.
I have been looking forward to following Rubicon for another year. It’s intriguing, challenging and some much more interesting than most of the copycat dramas on the major networks. It will be a great disappointment if AMC does not renew the drama.
Just bring Rubicon back period end of story
Come on producers of Rubicon, think outside the box and ensure Rubicon enjoys at least 6-8 seasons! There is a plethra of material to write from given the climate that exist in the U.S. today concerning intelligence and terrorism.
The glutony of American’s with ADD’s and the overdosing of mind numbing silly “Reality TV”; the time has come and is long past due to provide the viewing audience an intellectually stimulating conspiratory-CIA spook drama that the Rubicon has to offer.
I Think it was one of the best series from last year and top ten over last 5 years
Rubicon is one of the smartest shows to entice me to watch on a regular basis in years. Too ‘intelligent’ for the masses? If the episodes are filmed, it seems that airing them would be the wise thing to do, given the amount of repeats per week of much of your other regularly scheduled weekly programming. Rubicon is stimulating, requires undivided attention and actually gives me goose bumps on occasion. I think that conspiracy theorists abound and a change in your advertising strategy may be in order. Please, Please, Please reconsider the cancellation of one of the most compelling television… Read more »
