What’s This TV Show About?
On the Shadowhunters TV show, young Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) celebrates her 18th birthday at a New York City nightclub and sees a group of teenagers with supernatural abilities attacking a demon. She realizes that she is the only person who can see them and later learns that she’s one of a long line of demon hunters. When her mother, Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) is kidnapped, Clary must join other hunters to try to save her. All the while, she is learning about her new supernatural abilities. The rest of the Freeform cast includes Matthew Daddario, Alberto Rosende, Dominic Sherwood, Harry Shum Jr., Emeraude Toubia, and Isaiah Mustafa.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Shadowhunters averaged a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 648,000 viewers. Compared to the season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 32% in viewers. Learn how Shadowhunters stacks up against the other Freeform TV shows.
On April 21, 2017, Shadowhunters was officially renewed for a third season which will debut April 3, 2018. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
While the second season of Shadowhunters has dropped off considerably, it is still in the top half of Freeform’s programming slate. Freeform has cancelled and renewed shows doing both better and worse than Shadowhunters. It also seems to fit with the Freeform brand. At this time, I suspect Shadowhunters will be renewed for a third season.

It took me awhile to get it but once I did I’m hopping there is season 3 I don’t like watching weekly I like taping a whole season sitting back & spending the whole day watching in the comforts of my home so watched the whole season 1 yesterday & have started on season 2 I really get into this program looking foward to season 3 I’ve setup my alert to let me know Love the wolves shadowhunters warlock’s & oh yes the vamps among other’s just All of it &all of them working to gather to save the mundan”s… Read more »
This show definitely needs to be renewed. I love the books, I love the show. It needs to keep going!
There as to be renew for season 3 on the shadowhunters this is the best series I’ve ever watched

Hope the renew it. I see why it would have dropped in the second season – for me the plot dragged considerably and the show was missing some of the already iconic shine and glitter in the “darker” second season.
Still, I hope for several more seasons, hopefully again with some color and a tighter narrative.
I read the whole book series it was my favorite book series. I’m praying the show doesn’t get cancelled I love the series. I don’t even watch regular TV other than this and The Magicians
Would be devastated, truly — if season 3 got cancelled !!! I want- no i need more of MALEC !! The novel does not emphasise on their relationship that much and even the plot differs and i prefer the plot that the show exhibits .

Please don’t cancel the show…I’m so addicted to it and absolutely love it…I really want to know what’s going to happen to Jace and Clary and Simon and who ends up with who and most of all who has the sword…THIS IS THE BEST SHOW ON TV..PLEASE PLEASE RENEW IT.

Please renew for season 3 and so on. Got to know who has sword and what happens with clary, Simon, and jace. I LOVE this show. It’s going to drive me crazy having to wait so long to know what happens or if it’s going to be cancelled. God I hope it don’t get cancelled. It’s hard to find great shows with this kind of story

It should go on im dying to knw who took the sword n what happens now that he knows they arent sibblings do they hook back up n the vamp hooks up with the warewolf or now can be in the sunlight is it hard to deal with his cravings…. To many questions
I absolutely love this show! and it can’t possibly not be renewed for season 3, we’ve never seen the second mortal instruments movie and this is the closest we are going to get, we need som sort of Cassandra Clare’s ingenious book in the tv show or movie form too
I love this shoe i hope iz is renewed i stayed up two nights in a row to watch this series it is great.
