FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Yes. Shots fired was a must watch show. The acting was fabulous. I loved it. It spoke the truth. It should be continued. I told all of my friends they need to watch it It should be winning awards
I am very disappointed that Shots Fired was cancelled. One of the best shows on tv but it didn’t surprise me that it was cancelled. I knew people would not be accepting of the shows content. I loved it and hope to see it return!!!
Yes I would watch it again.. I believe the real reason for the show ending is that it reveals the truth .. The truth that racism still exists today…
They still think that blacks are forget about 300+ years of slavery.

Shots fired was a good show, great actors and relevant content that had substance. It deserves a 2nd season. There is plenty of subject matter to create another 10 episodes. Stop canceling quality programming Fox!
They must canceled it, because they need space for new season of Flesh and 20+ episodes about love, friendships and baloons.
I waited for all 10 episodes to hit hulu then binged Shots Fired. Amazing show!!! Great writing and very true to life on such a sensitive topic! I’d love to see Ashe and Preston be a team that tackles a new case/issue every season in a different location!
I liked the show, mainly because of Ashley. They should bring her back and retitled the series American Justice or something. She should still be a DoJ investigator with different people and can run into characters from shots fired.
Shots fired is one of my favorite series. I was late watching it, but was able to double and triple up on the episodes. It’s better than most shows running. I really hope they decide to bring the show back for a second season.
It seem the experts at fox can’t keep a good show on the air to save their lives. It was a great show.
Shots fires was amazin giving a true depiction of what life is like when you don’t fit in because of who one is, and though I know that we have to think bigget as a black people to enable us to grow, but we cannot pretend that there is a divide between us amd we must first build on that togather before we can remotely feel free, sad there is no 2nd season I would like to have seen the development peace
I thought it was extremely good. It held my attention and I looked forward to the new show the following week, quite disappointed that it isn’t being renewed, not terribly surprised though.
Just Amazing this show and the lack of interest shown om the Facebook likes on the “Shots Fired” Facebook page, likes only a 298, and yet there is 45 pages of messages here, keep up the your favorite shows by the Facebook Likes as well.
I Definitely enjoyed the show Shots Fired. I think the reason they saying the rating are low is due to the show Producers speaking the truth of what’s going on in the world. Maybe time slot and also Network plays a part in the Cancellation. I hope the Producer of the show shop around and get picked up by another network.
Definitely want a season 2 maybe would have had more viewers if you had advertised the show nobody even knew about it I just happened to stumble acrossed it… and fell in love… please do a next season!
