SPOILERS! The third season finale of FOX‘s Sleepy Hollow TV series, brought the death of main character, Lieutenant Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie. In March of 2015, FOX gave the show an early third season renewal, which was not repeated this year. So Sleepy Hollow is cancelled, right? Not necessarily, according to THR report, based on information from unnamed network sources.
In Sleepy Hollow‘s season three finale episode, “Ragnarok,” Abbie died a hero, sacrificing both life and soul in an effort to defeat Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon). Unlike he had, earlier in season three, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) was unable to save her, and according to Pandora, there is no bringing Abbie back. Offscreen chatter indicates Beharie had been wanting to leave the series for a while.

According The Hollywood Reporter, sources say both that FOX is likely to renew Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season, and that there has been “no talk” of making season four Sleepy Hollow‘s last. The report cites notes that the end of American Idol has left a big hole in the network’s schedule.

In a joint statement, published by THR, producers 20th Century FOX and showrunner Clifton Campbell said:
“The [season] finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales,” producers 20th Century Fox Television and showrunner Clifton Campbell said in a joint statement to THR. “We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we’ve seen onscreen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore.”

I will definitely keep watching I love Tom Mison and think there has been some amazing storylines in all three seasons. Why people who stopped watching have to give input bewilders me
I loved the character Abby but feel the introduction of other female characters has worked well and feel that Tom Mison will find new chemistry with a new witness and perhaps this time it may even become more romantic

I’m a fan and I could see another season. The exit of the Abbie character was needed. Nicole was great but the witnesses now being in love , please, a little too soap opera for me. I avid is the central character so it makes sense for him to encounter new characters.
Renewing it is just prolonging it’s ending. It went bad in season 2 and never recovered, no Abbie means it won’t recover, EVER.
I will still be watching it it’s a good show I will miss abbie though I wish she didn’t want to leave.
I do think season 1 was definitely the best but the end of season 3 gave way for them to add new characters and could be really good again. I think they should at least give it one more chance and bring back the horseman for at least some of the episodes.

Cancel it. There’s no show without Abbie & Ichabod as a pair, romantic or otherwise. Its their energy and their balance that keeps this compelling. If it is renewed, I hope Mison is successful in having even less involvement (he already negotiated his workload downwards for S3) and can untie himself from this anchor and move on to better things. What a miserable end to a once-great show.
They just destroyed what most fans loved most about the show and violated their own mythology to do it. TWO witnesses, equally important are supposed to save the word. Yet Abbie Mills has been demoted from partner to sidekick over three seasons It’s blatantly obvious why Nicole Beharie left. Her role was diminished and marginalized to the point where she was an afterthought on her own show. Tom Mison is terrific, But Nicole Beharie was just as important. I’ve been there from Day 1. Nicole actually wanted to leave at the end of season 1 but because she signed a 5 yr contract she was being held to it. Maybe that was the reason why season 2’s focus was on Katrina/Ichabod/Henry-Jeremy. It didn’t make sense at the time but now as more dribs and drabs are coming out it is making more sense. Also you would think that someone who is looking to exit a series would have work lined up. According to Nicole’s IMBd there is nothing on the horizon. Maybe she wanted to leave at the end of Season 1 because she could see what was coming…The Crane Family Drama, with her being sidelined to third place. She did not appear in promos because she wasn’t invited. She wasn’t invited to commentary on the DVD and there were tweets from her that said so along with tweets from fans and other actors trying to encourage her. Her tweet was deleted (by network no doubt) but the responses are still there and screenshots have been included in articles since they killed her off. If I see it and finally hear Nicole say it, I’ll believe it as for not having any work lined up are ‘you’ aware of the fact that actors get scripts for new shows, that the public isn’t always aware of??
Enjoyed the show including some of the remarks about modern times vs revolutionary times. Love Tom Mison & Nichole Beharie but things change. Hope it is renewed.
I stopped watching at the end of season one. What a waste of a promising premise.
Sounds interesting. Nothing stays the same forever. I do hope they take it back to the darker tone that the first season had.
Just put Sleepy Hollow of it’s misery and cancel it. What a shame, it was such a good show when it first began…
