Christopher Meloni had a long run on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit but his FOX sitcom didn’t last. Surviving Jack has been cancelled after one season.
Surviving Jack revolves around Dunlevy family. A no-nonsense father (Christopher Meloni) starts tough-love parenting his teenage kids (Connor Buckley and Claudia Lee) while his wife returns to college (Rachael Harris). Others in the cast include Kevin Hernandez and Tyler Foden.
The series was originally supposed to have 13 episodes this season but the network cut the order down to eight installments. That’s never a good sign.
Surviving Jack has been drawing poor ratings on Thursday nights, following American Idol. The six episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.35 million total viewers.
The series finale is scheduled for next Thursday, May 15th.
What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a second season of Surviving Jack? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled this sitcom?
THIS STINKS! Serviving Jack best new show on TV! Fox change your mind!!!!!
Our WHOLE FAMILY is DISAPPOINTED!!! We LOVED this show, it was SMART & HILARIOUS! Please BRING IT BACK!!
I think it sucks that Surviving Jack is being cancelled. Excellent show!!
I’ve never watched this show, but I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t kind of hoping for this show to fail since even before the pilot aired. Maybe now that it has been cancelled, Meloni will return to SVU as Stabler.
Frank, couldn’t have said it better myself! Thank you for saving me the trouble.
Absolutely disappointing , Surviving Jack was the best show on TV, me and my wife have no kids but that show made you think about of different issues you might encounter with your kids.
Almost Human was a good show also, Rake wasn’t that bad
Brooklyn Nine Nine – should be cancelled
I cannot believe Surviving Jack had been cancelled . Finally,
there was a show that was entertaining, not a medical show,
not a cop show, not a show about death , killing, or violence; just
a genuinely funny show and you cancelled it. No wonder there’s
So much violence out there . It’s all that’s on tv. It is a shame
That tv doesn’t make you laugh like Surviving Jack
Did
Fox Tv Studios should all be fired. Time after time good shows are cancelled on one season. There is 10 seasons of supernatural… yet almost human is cancelled in 1 season. Bunch of suit wearing pricks.
There is 10 seasons of Supernatural because the writing, storytelling and acting is amazing. Plain and simple. Almost Human wasn’t bad, but it was no Supernatural.
What the heck?!? FOX and ABC canceling 2 of my new favorite shows!
What a shame. Surviving Jack has been one of the smartest shows to come around in a long time. Christopher Meloni was brilliant! It was in the wrong place and in the wrong time slot. FOX was deluding itself if it really expected the mindless wonders who watch American Idol to tune-in and relate to the clever dialog, entertaining scripts, and talented actors that made up this refreshing show. I hope the creators/producers don’t give up on this show. It is worth shopping around to other networks and saving.
This is really bad news! I enjoy the show so much! It is the one I wait for in the week!! So unfair to cancel it so soon.
I’m very disappointed to hear this has been cancelled. I didn’t care much for the pilot but I kept watching and the show definitely did improve with each episode and became a show I looked forward to every week. I think if they had given this show a fair chance and allowed it to rise to its full potential, it could have lasted. I’ll definitely miss it when it’s gone.
NO! I don’t think they should try to get him back, after all he thought he was so valuable to the show but he got proven wrong. I like the cast but I miss the Captain and Munch. Wish they would come back.
Fox Didn’t Even Give This Show A Chance If It Don’t Do Big Numbers Its Gone Some Great Shows Started Of Rocky Then Go On To Be Great Example MASH It Almost Didn’t Make a Second Season But Went On To Be A Great Show
So disappointed! This is truly a funny show! No networks give shows a chance now. I believe following Idol, which everyone I know has stopped wAtching, hurt this great sitcom
This is a TV travesty. You have smart characters. You have good acting. You have a show that takes place in one of the coolest years ever, 1991. And instead of saying “Hey, this is actually a good show!”, Fox is instead looking at the ratings, the ratings, and the ratings. Which were not stellar but far from terrible. They were actually pretty close to the just as funny but renewed “Brooklyn Nine Nine”. I think Fox should be ashamed of themselves on passing up on such a good show that was a lot of fun to watch. Honestly, if… Read more »
