We hope you weren’t too taken with the story of young Bryan Mills. As reported, NBC has removed season two of its Taken TV show from the schedule. Now, the Peacock network has announced the second season will resume Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 8:00pm ET/PT. Note two things about that return date: the network is moving the show from the ICU that is Friday nights, to the hospice that is Saturdays, and the second season of Taken will not resume until after the conclusion of Nielsen’s May Sweeps ratings period.
An NBC crime thriller, Taken is a prequel to the Luc Besson film franchise starring Liam Neeson. The Taken TV series adaptation stars Clive Standen as a young, but already lethal Bryan Mills. The cast, which was retooled after a flagging freshman season, also includes Jennifer Beals, Adam Goldberg, and Jessica Camacho. The story centers on Mills, as he and his team undertake rescue missions around the globe.
According to NBC’s programming schedule, beginning Friday, May 20th Dateline NBC, which typically runs for one hour at 10:00pm ET/PT, will air from 9:00 to 11:00pm ET/PT. Meanwhile, the Taken show page, on NBC.com, confirms the May 26th return date.
In addition, Deadline reports: “Taken already was considered a likely cancellation, and the scheduling move makes that certain.” While the network has yet to confirm that it has cancelled Taken, don’t bet your grocery money on season three renewal.
Taken: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of Taken is averaging a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.764 million viewers. Compared to season one, it is down by about 56% and 46%, respectively. By both measures, it is the lowest rated of NBC’s scripted TV shows. It’s really due to international sales that Taken was renewed for season two.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Taken TV series? Are you sad that it it is cancelled? If it were up to you, would NBC cancel or renew this TV show for a third season?
Loved Taken. Very disappointed it is being cancelled. Wish we could see the remaining episodes now.
I really enjoy Taken. Not surprised though since it seems like every show I like gets cancelled. Hopefully they’ll change their minds.
Looked forward to watching Taken each week. NBC seems to cancel all the good shows. I think another day/time slot would have served the show better.
NBC=no body cares at the network unless it says Dick Wolf at the end of the show
Good show better this season than last with smaller ensemble
Bummer, really like it, didn’t like time slot moved from 9. Good action and love cast.
I am so disappointed that this show is cancelled. It was one of the more interesting shows on TV. It deserves to have at least one more season!
Another good show bites the dust! I’ll continue to watch until the end. Disappointing.
They keep those stupid reality tv shows (which or so faked) yet they cancel good shows like this. Finally something good to watch and now they cancel it. I don’t know if that says more about the intellegence level of the ‘audience’ or more about the ‘higher ups’
I very much enjoyed the show. Thought it was exciting and fun to watch. Hate that NBC cancelled it!
Taken is one of the few remaining tv shows that are worth watching. We really hate to see it go and have watched every episode.
Why are you cancelling one of the best TV shows that NBC has on? I love Taken & really enjoy this season even with the cast changes. I love Clive & Jennifer. And I like Adam Goldberg in the role of the computer geek. PLEASE NBC remove Dateline & bring back Taken. I HATE Dateline!!!
I love this show. NBC never gave it a chance this year to work. On Fridays when Blue Bloods is on. So disappointed on how the network handled this program.
I try not to watch programs on NBC
Typical… my favorite show and the only show (I watch a lot) I anticipate each week. Sigh. Grimm was the last one that I anticipated watching each week, and actually watched as it aired now sadly it is gone too. Love Taken. Love a weekly dose of Clive Standen who excellently portrays Brian Mills. Networks need to give series’ a chance.
I am so hoping they do keep the series alive. It has good storylines, great actors and I absolutely love the addition of Adam Goldberg to the cast!
Keep the show on. It plays current and realistic situations that inform us in small ways of what really goes on behind the scenes in these situations. The cast is great!
