The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

So very very sad to hear, I absolutely love this show, she is so spontaneous and just downright funny!! I can’t believe that her show has not “caught on” and people have not connected with The Bonnie Hunt Show!!!!
The Bonnie Hunt show is one of the best talk shows on air. She has great guests. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I love her mom’s littlle skits. This is a shame. Can’t someone help save this show???
this is the second bonnie hunt show that was cancled!! whats wrong with these people cancling her shes great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so sorry to hear this. I love this show. It certainly beat watchign soap operas. I wish another channel would pick it up. She is a great hostess.
We watch eveyday we are sure going to miss the show .I’m Hoping she will get a another show soon
We are loyal fans of the show and are so disappointed it is being cancelled. The problem is that it took 2 years for people to find out about it….best kept secret in the world…never saw any advertising, and only because of word of mouth our circle of friends and family have become fans. Bonnie is the real thing…a wonderful warm, friendly, talented, FUNNY, FUNNY gal. We hate reality shows and soap operas…a waste of brain cells, so it was very refreshing to look forward every day to The Bonnie Hunt Show. NBC didn’t learn anything with the Leno fiasco….who… Read more »
Bonnie being cancelled sucks. She is a very funny, genuine and talented, not too mentioned VERY funny. To bad a ‘normal’ celebrity talk show doesn’t make it. Total bummer
Wow, what a shame that Bonnie is being taken off of the air. I so enjoyed the show. I thought that the unstructured platform and interaction with the staff and audience was refreshing. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect on a show. I watch very few programs on NBC, I guess this will be one less now. Wake Up NBC!!!!!
What a shame. The Bonnie Hunt Show is a delightful, family friendly hour of fun. It airs at a time in my area where I can sit down with a cup of tea to relax and enjoy some laughs. I absolutely love the interaction between Bonnie and her Mom. There are so few positive and funny shows like this available these days. Not everyone enjoys game shows or reality TV.
First they take off our favorite soap operas, now they take off our chance to laugh. What is next?
So sad to hear the news, I LOVE this show and watch daily. I think Warner Bros. is making a mistake taking this show off the air.
Most people don’t even know that the Bonnie Hunt show exists. If they advertised it, the ratings would soar. I just happened to find it by mistake. But once I discovered it, I watched consistently. I always complain about the fact I have so many stations that are on 24/7, but there’s nothing I want to watch. The Bonnie Hunt Show was one of the few shows I looked forward to. I am really sad. It’s like losing a best friend.

We have always loved Bonnie Hunt. On her sitcom where she played a talk show host, we thought then she would make a great talkshow–and she did. She is so naturally funny and talented and beautiful. I guess there’s just not enough room in the daytime world but for just a few shows. But hers was topnotch, so I can’t believe the crap that is
still out there while she gets cancelled. I only hope she gets another sitcom or gets back into movies. She is a true American Treasure.
NBS is stupid! Bonnie has a great show, but a lousy time slot. Air her show when people are home.
It is one of the few family-friendly shows left.
Wow…How disappointing. A great show…with the crew and band involved…Can’t figure out why this would be canceled….Channel Five is my favorite station because of its choices in entertainment. I can’t imagine that another station will not picvk the show up…The lineup WAS great…a little bit of this and a little bit of that….
This is truly bad news. Sad news. We are retired and look forward to watching channel 5 at 10 AM every day that we can in Massachusetts. This is going to take a plesant part of the day away from us and many, many others.
Let us hope that another network will take on this show.
Thanks Bonnie for a great show and a reason to laugh and enjoy.
Take off some reality shows — America is getting sick of them.
Put her in the Oprah spot —
