The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I have just started watching this in November. Love this show. So disappointed that it’s cancelled. It’s always funny….alot better than some of the others out there.
I am so sad that Bonnie’s show has been canceled. So many stupid shows on TV and one of the best is being let go. I just don’t get it! Hopefully, another network will pick up her show.
I think this is the best daytime talk show on tv, because it always is funny and heartwarming, and leaves me feeling better after I watch it. Bonnie’s gentle humor and her devotion to raising money for cancer research, and to helping shelter animals find homes, and especially her “feel good moment of the day” at the end of each show are wonderful. I will miss this show a LOT!!!
The Bonnie Hunt Show is the best talk show since Johnny Carson left The Tonight Show. It’s one of the few shows that my 17-year old son will gladly watch with me. She’s genuinely nice and has that “something” that Johnny Carson did that makes her funny and puts her guests at ease, not to mention making us at home laugh out loud right along with her. I hope the Warner Bros. execs will take another look at her ratings and change their minds. I don’t know the numbers, but expect that she’s just starting to catch on. If they… Read more »
I’m really upset that the ” Bonnie Hunt Show” will be leaving daytime TV. It’s a great, great show and deserves attention. Can’t the network find a better time slot for Miss Hunt and her equally talented staff? Please get creative and find a way to give this show another chance!
I’m very sad that we are losing a show that provides great entertainment and has done such wonderful community service. Bonnie is very dedicated to animals and to helping causes and individuals in need. She is so funny, loving and giving…she has obviously inspired her crew to be the same way. It’s hard to understand how a show that provides so many good things can be cancelled, while other “trash” remains on the air. I guess that is a commentary on our society…which begs the question, “does television have the responsibility of providing society with something better to attain –… Read more »
I will miss seeing her smiling face each weekday at 11:00 a.m. I have so enjoyed all the different styles of people that come on her show and the fact that she is such an animal advocate!! Her Mom Alice always makes me smile and laugh with her ways of reusing/recycling ordinary everyday items that most of us would never think to do. I just loved the shows when she would bring on the dogs and cats that are up for adoption. One of her crew members even ended up adopting one of the dogs and he will bring her… Read more »
So sad about this. I love everybody on the show! everybody!
What a shame. She is the best (tied with Ellen, which is saying something!) The guests are her friends and her sense of humor is delightful -fresh, natural, spontaneous and edearing. I hope she moves to Fox and we see her for a long time to come! Compared with George Lopez, Wanda Sykes and the former shows with Rosie & Whoopi, she is miles above and a true gem!
ALL THE NETWORK HAS TO DO IS CHANG HER TIME SHE IS ON THE SAME TIME AS OPRAH AND THAT OTHER GIRL TYRA AND THEY’VE BEEN ON TV FOREVER BONNIE IS SO GREAT SHE IS WITTY AND HS SO MUCH MORE PERSONALITY THAN OPRAH, WHY NOT CHANGE HER TIME SLOT? PLEASE DON’T CANCEL HER SHOW. IF YOU REMEMBER WHEN ELLEN STARTED SHE WAS ON THE SAME TIME OPRAH WAS ON AND HER PEOPLE CHANGED HER TO A DIFFERENT TIME SLOT, BONNIE IF I WERE YOU I’D CHANGE MY PEOPLE THAT IS IN CHARGE OF YOUR SHOW AND HIRE ELLEN’S PEOPLE/… Read more »
I think Warner Brothers is CRAZY. Do they actually not realize just how many viewers watch Bonnie’s show ! She is one of the warmest, wittiest and genuinely funny person on TV. She has such insight into so many things. Her experience as a nurse adds depth as well, to her take on many health issues.
Warner Brothers – SHAME ON YOU !
I hope another smart network picks up her show. I am going to miss her terribly.
I watch Bonnie Hunt everyday, well I did before you moved her to 5pm here in Seattle. I can’t believe you would even consider canceling her show, were are stuck watching stupid shows like Dr Phil and The Doctors. I will go back to watching the news on CNN during the day.
We watch Bonnie every dday. She is such a good interviewer and It is great that Bonnie puts her mother on. Hopefully some station will see how great it is and pick it up.We watch it on FOX
It is one of the most genuine shows on TV not like most of the talk shows. I will miss it terribly and hope someone else picks it up. Don’t know what else I can say but I won’t be watching anything else on chanel 5 probably switch to Martha????
This is so disappointing! She is such a natural when interviewing those that come on the show… everyone seems so comfortable & “at home” when sitting with her! We will miss her as we watch her everyday!!!!
