The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Big mistake……genuinely a great show. She is a class act and hopefully will do something similar in the near future!!!
You are making a big mistake ! Her show is better than watching Oprah or Ellen we get tired of their same old stuff. She is real and very human , a breathe of fresh air ,love everything about it ! Plaese let me know what else we can do to save this wonderful show ? Yours Truly, Sue Moore
I watch Bonnie every mornig after my night shift……..this show keeps me interested all the way throug………some shows have”hot topics” in the beginning and then boring girl topics. But, Bonnie has “suprises” all the way through which keepsyour interest…..btw she is extremely entertaining. and engaging……fools all, for taking her team off the air. Dumb asses really.
Big Mistake our family loves her show!!She’s GREAT!!
What a Disappointment!!!! Have taped Bonnie every single day just in case I wasn’t home at that time. The only show I tape. I watch her show over a lot of the shows that are on TV. How can they do this??? Not only enjoyed her, but her crew. Loved them all. She also had very interesting guests. Certainly hope they find another slot for her. She will be sorely missed.
There are very few hosts with the true heart, values and sense of humor that Bonnie has. I have so enjoyed watching her these past two years and was looking forward to many more. She truly loves people, her fans, Charlie, all animals, or course her mother and interacts so well with everyone. I had hoped to meet her someday! Cannot believe that the Powers That Be would pull her. She has given so much to cancer research and as someone who has lost both parents to cancer, I really appreciate that fact. She is a true person and deserves… Read more »
Guess my previous comments were replaced by my second note….so I will repeat what I said. I live in Oregon and many of us can’t understand why in the world BONNIE HUNT is being cancelled. We watch it daily and tape it when we are not home. I speak for myself and at least 30 other people I know. I was recently in So. Cal. and my friends down there have the exact same feelings. Shame on you Warner Productions for cancelling such a healthy, warm, friendly, fun, interesting family show. It is the BEST talk show on TV in… Read more »
That’s the problem–it’s not just Warner Bros….that is why everyone is so confused. It was never marketed and promoted in a professional manner. As far as I know-I watch it at 9AM on ABC in PA-some see it on Fox—some on NBC…and these ARE NOT reruns. So go figure ! Do we just stop watching all 3 networks, or is some bright network going to pick up her show and promote it properly? Are they even getting our posts? She has great guests as well–the same guests that I see on the Tonight Show etc…I DID Hear HER MENTION VEGAS-so… Read more »
That’s a shame. I really like her show. I hope another network will be smart enough to give her a chance.
Ooops–sorry I made so many typo’s in my previous comment. (even mispelled my own name.) I was so adamant about my comment that I hurried through the words….
Go BONNIE—Hope another network picks up your EXCELLENT , family fun talk show. Wwe’ll also miss Alice and Don and rest of fun crew…..
I think Warner productions isCRAZY and wrongv for cancelling The Bonnie Hunt Show. I can speak for myself and at least 30 more people (off the top of my head) that are very upset. We all think she is the BEST TALK SHOW on TV. We tape it when we are gone. I am from Oregon, and I recently visited CA friends who all agree with my husband and I and also, tape it when they aren’t home or at work. WHAT IS THE DEAL? every time a worthwhile, warm-fuzzy/ clean-cut/ enjoyable fun show comes on you KILL it…and cancel…..… Read more »
NBC is making a big mistake of cancelling the bonnie hunt show I agree with brenda r that NBC wanted good clean shows and with bonnie look at all the things she supports getting dogs and cats adopted, her cancer supports, or other health supports, her guest of what they are promoting books, movies,or TV shows she includes her staffs, her motherand other friends she will missed very much I enjoyed for 1pm to come so I could watch her before I go to work and some day watching her put me in a ggod mood to go to work so… Read more »
I love Bonnie’s sense of humor, her compassion for people and her love for her family. She is a wonderful entertainer and I will truly miss seeing her. I hope her and her staff the very best.
I agree with the previous reply, I wished another network would pick her show up.
Frankly, as a viable programming is concerned, NBC is hanging on by its fingertips. The Bonnie Hunt show is an enjoyable daytime program bursting with sincerity and “humor and heart.” It has helped me get through the last 50 weeks as an unexpectedly laid off employee, diligently (and desperately) looking for a job. When I get a new job – hopefully soon – I had intended to record The Bonnie Hunt Show for later viewing. It is a real disappointment to learn that the plug has been pulled on the show, and I question NBC’s decision. Not everyone likes daytime… Read more »
I loveBonnie and I think it is a shame to cancel the show. I thought this network wanted good clean shows. I watch her every morning. When the show goes off I won’t be watching the same channel anymore. Maybe another network will pick it up.
Big Mistake! We love Bonnie!
