The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I am totally flabbergasted to hear that the Bonnie Hunt Show has been cancelled. I just found it a few weeks ago after being disillusioned by soap operas. I am soooooo sad. She is just so real and honest and funny. Someone is out of thier mind! I do think her time slot is tough and I have never seen an advertisement for the show. I don’t usually watch NBC…….but they must advertise someplace else. Darn……..I am unhappy concerning this situation. GOOD LUCK BONNIE, HOPE YOU GET PICKED BY ANOTHER NETWORK. I don’t have cable so hopefully you’ll be on… Read more »
Bonnie Hunt, is by far, my favorite morning show. I am livid. I wonder what kind of trashy show will replace it, and manage to stay on the air. There is little else for decent people to watch.
I guess Bonnie could have saved the show by trashing the set, by throwing a phone, using foul language and adding sex every possible moment. Thanks for keeping your standards high, I appreciate it.
NBC, you are famous for you BAD decisions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, NBC kills one of the best of day time shows…and continues with garbage that is totally offensive…hopefully, one of the cable networks will pick up Bonnie’s show…and we can be done with NBC…at this moment, the only thing of any value on this network for an entire week is the new show Parenthood and the Today Show and Brian Williams in the evening for the national news…the rest is forgetable…
I’ve watched this show every day since I got laid off from my job in 2008..Bonnie I’ll miss u!
It was out of touch. Too goodie- goodie and white bread. Some parts were pleasant and Bonnie is a lovely person, but the guests were normally semi-unknowns and Bonnie talked about reality tv too much. The editing was atrocious and bad decisions were made regularly. When you book a legend like Raquel Welch or Carol Burnett on your show, give her the entire hour. The “antics” for ten to fifteen minutes in the beginning segment of TBHS were boring and too long. Bonnie is a lovely person and she has a really kind heart, but you must respect the viewer’s… Read more »
Wow…another brilliant decision by the overpaid company heads who think with wallets rather than smarts! As a single woman with three grown children, it was a comfort to be able to view a show with heart, with values and with humor. Bonnie’s sincerity and compassion for her causes are as real as the anger I feel at this cancellation. Ratings low??? Maybe because the very people she reaches…the working middle class…are WORKING!!!! I looked forward to sick days and vacation days so I could watch her show and wished I could have been among the technologically gifted and could have… Read more »
I am so sad that Bonnie has been canceled. I love her show. She is a genuine comedy and improv talent and a genuine, caring personality. I hope she gets another show.
I just have to say that the end of The Bonnie Hunt Show” is nothing less than a travesty!
She came across honest and true. She had an interviewing persona that made you feel
like you were speaking to the guest yourself. Her quick wit is unmatched since the late
great Johnny Carson, and her sincerity is shown when she speaks to Alice. Nobody can
fool their mom.
I’ve never written anything like this before, but I never had a reason.
I will miss Bonnie, but I’m sure she will land on her feet…again.
It was sure nice to find a talk show that had family values, and a host that cared about people. My wife a I and many of our friends wonder why ? It shows us that the industry only wants a money maker, it does not matter what the public wants ? This show gave the industry a breath of fresh air, and let the people feel comfortable about the day to day events. We sure are going to miss you “BONNIE HUNT”. If Warner Brothers could see clearly what the public WANTS they would renew your contract another year… Read more »
I agree with Debi, Bonnie Hunt is the best show to watch. It is so uplifting. With all that is going on in the world, I could always watch her show and have a good laugh. Her show was like the good old shows that used to be on TV. I don’t like all the reality shows and the news is hardly ever good. Bonnie, my thoughts are with you and do know that there are people that like to watch GOOD TV.
Having retired in February, I haven’t watched much daytime TV until recently. I am so disapointed that the Bonnie Hunt show is going off the air, it is the most refreshing breath of air in an otherwise dismal array of programs now on TV. It reminds of me of the good old days when programs were full of great laughs, clean and wholesome programing. She and her great staff have brought such great laughs and a family atmosphere to my day! I wish you and all associated with the show the best ever and know that you have touched my… Read more »
KTLA runs TYRA BANKS until I throw up, Yet you would cancel someone so loving and caring as the Bonnie Hunt show that appeals to the 30 to 70 year age range. HOW STUPID ARE YOU?
PRETTY STUPID!!
Bonnie is so special and down to earth. She doesn’t seem to have any problem getting sponsors!!
AND LET’S TALK ABOUT ” ASK ALICE” The best ever!!!
You suck NBC and I won’t even watch you when you have a hit show in prime time! Channel 2 rocks except in the earlier part when Bonnie is on!!!!
What dementia rocks your world!!!!!!!!!!!
I was very sad at hearing that Bonnie’s been cancelled. I have watched her every day since her debut and enjoyed her show far more than any other morning show. She is a beautiful, caring and thoughtful person . So sorry to see Bonnie go , she will be really missed at my home, can’t imagine anyone replacing her.
I love the Bonnie Hunt Show–I could only get it on local cable tv though. If it could have been located on Direct TV somehow, I think it would have been successful
How sad that a show with such great quality (the Bonnie Hunt Show) gets cancelled and other shows that show nothing but crap, still remain on the air. Just a testamint to how our society has gone to hell in a handbasket. Why are we willing as a society to accept so little of oursleves. Once again, it’s all about the mighty$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I don’t watch much TV in the daytime, but if I ever had the time, I always made it the time that the Bonnie Hunt show was on. She is intelligent, kind and real. And has a wonderful sense of humor. Somehow, I think that is why she was canceled. With all the trash on network TV now, guess she didn’t fit into their agenda. I will miss her, but know that she will show up again, with her humor and wonderful personality.
