The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I have been hoping that if enough of her fans wrote in the network would get it’s head on straight and see that we want more of her type of program, not more hysteria, sadness. and crude jokes. The Bonnie Hunt Show was one I could allow my grandchildren to watch and not have to fear that they would hear something off-color or worse. Shame on the networks that think ALL viewers want that type of junk as a daily diet. I certainly hope some other network will pick the show up for next season; if they advertise it properly… Read more »
Bonnie, I am just recently retired and really don’t watch TV, but I do try to catch your show everyday. I really like it! I am so sorry to hear you were cancelled. Your show is always fun and enjoyable to watch, which is not something I can say about most TV shows.
Again, I am sorry to hear my only favorit day time (or for that matter, night time too) show will be off the air soon.
Its really sad that The Bonnie Hunt Show is being cancelled. Warner Bros. spent no money promoting her show which is probably why the show never really took off. She’s witty, smart and had a unique daytime show which was honest and entertaining. Oprah is all about Oprah. Never watch it and can’t stand it. The Ellen DeGenerse Show is so over the top and that she makes her audience do stupid things for money and gifts is kind of sick. She’s also, like Oprah a self promoter. Bonnie was not like that. Great woman with a lot of talent.… Read more »
I just heard that the Bonnie Hunt show has been cancelled and I am very disappointed. I watch her almost every day and have enjoyed her comedic personality as well as her relationship with her staff. It is a great loss and I hope another network will pick this very entertaing show.
Boy, What a disappointment. My wife and I really loved this show. They cancel the really good stuff and keep the inane stuff on the air. I hope someone picks this show up. It should not have been cancelled.
I am SO disappointed Bonnie’s show has been cancelled. It has been the one talk show I look forward to every day. What a loss!!
Dear Bonnie. I can’t believe they have cancelled your show. I much prefer it to Oprah and Ellen in so many ways. O’s is 60% tears and she will also soon be leaving; Ellen is 60% a bit too goofy but I do enjoy her humor. But your show……PERFECTION and a good balance of humor, entertainment and causes. I hope a smarter network will pick you, dust you off, and start all over again. FAST! I for one will have a lot of free time coming up as all three of these lady shows were (stupidly) scheduled for the same… Read more »
I think it is the time slot
I love the show
Love your show Bonnie! I will miss seeing you. You make my afternoon brighter!
Oh, no! This is the best show on daytime TV! I am really sad, but I will probably be able to get more chores done without my “feel good” break each day. Yuck!
I am so upset! I love Bonnie Hunt and watch her every day. She brings such a down-to-earth talk show every day. I enjoy the camaraderie she has with her staff, look forward to seeing her mom. How can the network even THINK about canceling her show?
Bonnie I just heard that your show was canceled and I am so upset. We watch your show everyday and tape it if we are not going to be home. It was the best show we looked forward to it each day. Like the coment above we will not be watching whatever replaces you. This is really upsetting. I wish you and your staff the best and Thanks for all the good clean fun and give you mom a hug for us. Will be watching for you.
I love The Bonnie Hunt Show. She is a wonderful, caring, proud Mid-western girl who has not lost her values or morals in the entertainment world. She is one in a million! Her show offers a lot of variety, and she really connects with her audience each day. She is always gracious and appreciative to her staff as well. She is a regular person. Her guests always genuinely enjoy talking with her, and her ad libs are refreshing and funny in a world that, currently, isn’t uplifting or positive. She offers a little sunshine each day, and I will miss… Read more »
I think The Bonnie Hunt show could take out one of those night time talk guys! I think her show is great and actually better than Ellen and Oprah!
Bonnie I just heard that your show was canceled and I am shocked. You have always been someone that I watch whenever I see you are in it. I tape all your shows so if I can’t watch in the morning I have it for a time I can. I love the feel good moments at the end of the show and share them with friends and family that can’t watch your show. I am going to miss you and hope the show that is taking your place fails. I know I won’t be watching it. Best of luck to… Read more »
