The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

The Bonnie Hunt Show is one of the few on television today where you don’t have to turn the channel due to inappropriate subject matter. What is this world coming to when a network considers canceling a television show that is decent, clean, informative, funny, heartwarming, etc? I loved listening to her mom’s advice, and her jokes for the little ones were clean and funny. Bonnie’s parents did a wonderful job in bringing up their children to have good morals and to be caring members of society. This is evident in her children and in the show. My husband and… Read more »
you’re kidding right??? Bonnie is the most underrated celebrity. she has had more than her share of show cancellations. what’s the matter? is she too good for TV. ever see the movie “return to me” ? she wrote, directed and produced it. what a great movie. ABC and Warner Bros. you suck. let’s start a facebook campaign for Bonnie to host SNL. AI love Bonnie and wish the best for her.
As I have said before I do not think the show “failed” one bit. I think who failed is W/B and the local affiliates who did not advertise her show enough.
Why are they canceling one of the truly most entertaining shows on TV. Not too many of these around today.
Put Bonnie in Ellen’s time slot. Ellen is getting old. I like Ellen and watch her occasionally, but she really is getting old, old games, old everything.
BRING ON BONNIE !
WHAT A WARM AND FUZZY SHOW! I HAVE WATCHED BONNIE FROM THE BEGINNING AND HAVE LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE SHOW. HER QUICK WIT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME ONE DAY IN DECEMBER I WAS HAVING A TOTAL MELTDOWN-CRYING AND FELLING SO SORRY FOR MYSELF. I COULDN’T EVEN FORCE MYSELF TO GO TO A JOB THAT I JUST LOVE, SO I CALLED IN SICK. I THINK I WAS STILL WEEPING WHEN BONNIE CAME ON AND SHE TRUELY BRIGHTENED THE REST OF MY DAY. PEOPLE WHO HAVE FAILED TO WATCH AND THEREFORE HURT THE SHOW’S RATINGS, HAVE REALLY MISSED A FUN… Read more »
I guess I am among the minority that liked the Bonnie Hunt Show. In my opinion, Ellen and Oprah’s shows are getting old. I always thought Bonnie was refreshing and vibrant unlike some other daytime stars. Since Oprah had to lend her star and money powers to elect Barack Obama, I have seen her in a less flattering light.
Bonnie Hunt is too good to ignore. Warner Brothers, just like NBC, have a bunch of mentally challenged SUITS in charge!
The Bonnie Hunt show is the BEST talk show I have ever watched…We all love Bonnie because she shows she is a real person…making fun of herself…sharing family stories…She is like family to me. Everyday, no matter what has happened in my day, when I watch her program, I feel loved and that the world is watching a program that isn’t some splashy, sensationalist display…but a gathering together with people who are caring, appreciative, encouraging, and know how to laugh at themselves which makes me feel relaxed and positive…I wish all programs could be that way…so that we come away… Read more »
Your show is such a delight to me. On dreary days, you bought the sun into my life. Pushing 70, I need a lot of those days. Will miss you dearly. So sorry I never could be on your show. I loved your mom and the way you ended your show. God bless you…….
iam so sad to see that Bonnie has been canceled i enjoyed her show very much
Bright. Positive. Witty. Fun. And heart warming. And Warner Brothers had no place for any of that? What a shame. Really. So we are stuck with what now in regard to daytime programming. Not a whole lot. Nothing worthy of replacing Bonnie with. How very wrong to cancel as good or better a program as Oprah.
Bonnie Hunt – I will follow you anywhere. Thanks for assembling such a great crew to work with – that you shared with your viewers too. And thanks for your mom, especially. I will miss her.
Nothing wrong with Bonnie except she’s funny, wholesome and unpretentious. That must be why she’s been cancelled (sarcasm). Hopefully they will appreciate her more on a different channel such as Fox or WE. Please pick her up somebody. We love her.
I am deeply saddened that the show is being canceled. To me it was entertaining as well as green & humanitarian. Please reconsider. Perhaps a different time slot. The show is too good to take off the air.
I have enjoyed Bonnie and her guests. She appears to be honest and does not use foul language or make be negative or critical about people with problems whether physical or mental. Sorry to hear the show is to be canceled. Hope the powers to decide change their minds.
I loved Bonnie Hunt and thought she was very funny. I loved her spots on the pet adoption and enjoyed her hilarious stories. It was the fact that she gave far too much air time to her staff who were not as entertaining. Don would have been okay to include in conversation but no one cared about all these other staffers like Alex who I found to be totally obnoxious. Even her mother’s spot got boring after a while and could have been left out. She brought in her camera men and other members of the staff as if they… Read more »
What a shame that they have cancelled the Bonnie Hunt Show!! I loved watching Bonnie and her Mom’s appearance on the show! The staff was great and I loved to watch how they all interacted together. What is wrong in this world that people prefer to watch people arguing and giving their one sided view and showing their dating skills (or not) on TV for the whole world to watch. You have a good wholesome show to watch and it is cancelled and they keep on these STUPID reality shows like the Bachelor and talk shows like The View and… Read more »
Stupid $$$ driven decision. NBC is not the only network around and neither is Warner Brothers. Since what viewers want does not seem to matter then two channels are off my viewing list.
