The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

How did I miss that the series was canceled? heard some allusions to it this week. When if finale? I will miss it so much but how much viewship to they expect at 2pm? Maybe we should’ve talked it up more so people with “normal jobs” would TIVO it. Bonnie is truly talented and really funny. Without making me cringe. I’m so tired of everything being so dark on TV. Tired of murder cases. Tired of trash talk. Have to have my mental guard up to watch some relaxing TV. With Bonnie’s show could truly sit back, relax and enjoy… Read more »
I am going to miss Bonnie Hunt show; its starts my morning with laughs and feel good mood. I just found her show earlier this year, hate to find it and now its leaving. I think a sad decision to cancel. Bonnie is talented and witty and staff all seem to work well together. Good luck to everyone who works on the show, wish you could stay on the air.
I just heard that The Bonnie Hunt Show is canceled. This makes me so very sad. I have grown to love this show. It is the only thing I can enjoy watching, and that is suitable, with my young children. Why do all the shows that are genuine have to be pulled off the air? I guess it will be replaced with trash since that’s what t.v. has become. I’m really going to miss Bonnie!
The Bonnie Hunt Show is something that brought back “family values”. It is a show that you are not afraid to have your kids watch. For a morning talk show it is wonderful – a fresh perspective, entertaining, funny and family oriented. It is unfortunate that the show has been canceled. It just goes to show you were we are heading with all the “reality” shows, sensationalism, inappropriate subject matter, sex, violence, etc. …..straight down the drain.
Bonnie Hunt has added laughter and compassion to the afternoon line-up. She will be missed, I hope NBC is not bringing another game show to replace this imagitive and innovated programming.
I agree with al the good comments made thus far. I was not aware of the Bonnie Hunt Show until late last fall . I fell in love with her and all her cast and her sweet mother. Now they are promoting the show! Why, when NBC has cancelled it! NBC used to be one of my favorite networks, but they certainly make bad decisions! I tried gtting her E-mail address before this, but was unable to get it. I pray she is successful in whatever she may be doing in the future and I sincerely hope she comes back… Read more »
I am furious with NBC for cancelling Bonnie Hunt. No wonder the channel is in so much trouble. They deserve it. They finally had a good show and then they cancelled it. How dumb!!
I really enjoy watching Bonnie’s show during the afternoon and tivo when I can’t be home to watch it. I love her quick quips and the rapport with the staff. Her show with Carol Burnett was priceless! Please don’t cancel this show-there is so little on tv that is worth watching.
I have been disableled over the past 2 years, and to be honest Bonn ie is the best medicine any body could want. It appears to me that her talk show has as much to offer if not more than any other show on daytime. Hell how did Jerry Springer hang on so long? not because of substance
You are making a really big mistake love Bonnie she is a real down to earth person and funny and loved her mom.
We went to the studio last year and waited about 2 hours outside in line with we we thought made a difference who would get in first, what a mistake that was. People came late and we ushered in well before us. We thought who in the hell are these folks? One assistant came around and wanted to know if we had anything interesting in mind that would help the show be having Bonnie talk to us on air. I told them a very personal story about Bob Hope but she wasn’t very interested. We sat be the band and… Read more »
I love this show, it’s an all out feel good show that fills a wide gap in programming.
I really love the show and appreciate all of her passions–ie: pets
I love her mom too I think that I will miss her most of all. There are too many reality shows on and not enough real talk shows.
I hope that they change thier minds—if not I would like to know what Bonnie is going to do next—I will continue to be a big fan!!

ps–what colours are used on the set? I love the colour combination!
Mistake cancelling the show. It is one of the real talk shows on the air. NBC should reconsider keeping the show on. There are to many reality shows on the air and the Bonnie Hunt show was a breath of fresh air.
How much more of a social value the Hunt Show has proven to be particularly compared to the most horrible of all efforts, the soaps which cannot even be included in the genre historically known as the drama. Bonnie Hunt is deserving prime time by far. I take that back. The soaps are not even an effort.
