The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Just watched another re-run. I enjoyed watching Valerie Bertinelli all over again, but some guests I could do without. Sad to watch, when you know it is just about over. I am really interested in what Bonnie will do now. Hope someone will know and tell us. She is the best.
All previous comments about the loss of Bonnie Hunt I echo. It was the only show my husband and I got some warm feelings, and good laughs over. Why do we have to be bombarded with reality shows and way out shows that one can’t even tell what is going on. The few t.v. shows we watch are all being cancelled. I guess next season we’ll not watch t.v. at all. Most likely the only station we will watch is PBS. We are not watching reruns all summer.
enjoy her show , her guest etc. Its such apleasant change from these shows such as american idol , you’ve got talent ,etc.
I am very disapointed that Bonnie’s show is being cancelled. I have enjoyed it from the day that I accidently turned it on! Can’t you reconsider?
I am furious that shows that I dearly enjoy are cancelled, even after an agreed upon contract stipulates the end. The show, I am sorry to hear showed caring of an elder mother, cuddly things and genuine good feelings. I feel most people have trouble w/ their mothers and cannot stand it that someone/Bonnie honors her mother – AS WE ALL SHOULD AND COULD. The group was a prime example of cooperation and fun. This was a show that didn’t preach, had comedic content without innuendo and gossip-like intent. I was thrilled at the whole process of Bonnie’s bunch. GIVE… Read more »
I have posted before but this may be my last. I can hardly watch Bonnie anymore, for it just is depressing that she is going off the air. I really do not understand if she Wanted it that way or not. Perhaps she did. I wish she had let us know, but am sure she could not do that publicly. It will be interesting to see what takes her place. No one can really. She is one very unique entertainer, and I enjoyed her thoroughly.
Bonnie did not want the show to end and neither did I.
I LOVE THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW! WHY DO WE LOSE THE GOOD SHOWS? MAYBE LOW RATINGS SHOULD BE A SIGN OF SUCCESS TODAY!
GIVE US THE SHOW BACK!
I’m sick about this show going off the air. I love the animal touch and Bonnies natural way of moving the show along. I’ll miss Alice a lot. She made my day. Ellen is a great show but entirely different and for the very young crowd. Like young Mothers. Us middle in lifers and Grandmas love Bonnie. Oprah has too many serious topics and sad items too. I tend to stay away from that stuff. Bonnie had a happy show.
I think canceling the Bonnie Hunt Show was a big mistake. I was laid up all winter and I looked forward to watching her every day. She’s a fresh face and pure entertainment. I think NBC is making a HUGE mistake. But then again, we remember the Jay Leno/Conan O’Brien debacle. I guess it’s just NBC’s year to do stupid things. I’m giving up this channel for good.

With most talk shows I’ll watch if there will be an interesting guest. I don’t usually watch them to see the host because most of them are so predictable. But Bonnie Hunt was different. I’ve liked her since her situation comedy show in which she played a talk show host, so I was delighted when she finally had her own, real life talk show. She’s the reason I watched her show, not because of the guests. She is a genuinely likeable person. You can see why she had the brains and heart to be a cancer nurse (her former career).… Read more »
I can’t catch Bonnie’s show but on Youtube.com due to work hours and I just love everything about it from guests, good conversations, clips and band how she involves the audiences and mostly Bonnie Hunt wit please reconsider its has such a Homey like feelings it brings joy to millions like myself daily. The show is wonderful as Ellen’s and Oprah’s.
Its very sad that a great show like Bonnie Hunt has no room on daytime tv.She has so much class and is a real person.Their is so much really bad junk which includes dumb game shows and lots of dumb court shows. Bonnie will land on her feet whatever she does. Its a loss for America.
I can’t believe this show is ending because I love it. It is always entertaining when Bonnie is able to quickly make situational jokes with her guests, showing pictures, or watching videos. Her warmth and humor will be missed. Hopefully another network will pick this show up. It is my feel good moment of the day.
I loved watching this show and think it is a big mistake that it was cancelled. I’m still watching it and will until it and it’s reruns are taken off the air. I hope another station will pick her up, she livened up the day.
I love Bonnie & I hate that it is being cancelled. As soon as there is a quality morning show it gets cancelled. What is the problem? I hope someone else picks it up. I love you Bonnie!!!
