The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Why are theycanceling the Bonnie Hunt Show? It is a great lead-in for the view//Her guests are interesting and varied..unkind words are not the noprm and Bonnie herself is talented, compassionate and very savvy….her hcoice of guests (inncluding “Mom” are just great..what will replace this show? A half-baked game show..another Good Morning America with 25 breaks for the weather? What a wastwe of talent not to continue her show and what a misunderstandinbg of what people really enjoy watching on morning TV..shame on you!
First of all, I am shocked and dismayed that Bonnie was canceled! Without cable for a while, but when I got it back, The Bonnie Hunt Show was one of the first shows I looked for. Not realizing that I was watching a syndicated viewing, I had no idea that it was canceled!! I agree with so many others; I never watch talk shows but, the first time I came across Bonnie, I found her HONEST, DOWN-TO-EARTH, GIRLFRIEND FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD way, EXTREMELY REFRESHING and ADDICTIVE!!!! Please bring Bonnie back. In the meantime, keep the syndications going. One last thing;… Read more »
I started watching Bonnie on my days off, Tues and Thurs. Then I started taping the other days so I would watch two or three hours of Bonnie and never tired of it. Bonnie is a warm spot of sunshine that just made my Tues and Thurs may favorite days of the week. I loved to see her warmth and caring toward her staff and guests and espcially her mom. Her set brought back loving memories of my own dad. Bonnie going off the air is like saying good bye to my best friend. My heart is breaking but my… Read more »
The Bonnie Hunt show was great. It did not do well because of the time slot. It should be given more time and dnt put it againsgt regis and kelly.I think that show should be cancelled but its been on so long it has followers
Please put Bonnie back on her show. Such talent and kindness. Someone pick up her show please!
I am heartbroken that Bonnie’s show was cancelled — it is on at 8:00 a.m and I always made sure that I was up before that so I could make the coffee and be in my chair (with my cffee) and wtch her show – she is a deight and I agree with a previous email that I could have her show on when my grandchildren visited. At first my husband made fun of me .. being so “religious” about watching her, but after he watched her a few times he started getting up and watching it with me. If… Read more »
Bonnie is bright, beautiful, entertaining and is a unique personality UNLIKE other people in TV land. Bonnie is the Oprah of comedy.
I’m very sad to see the end of the Bonnie Hunt show. She always had good taste in guests, such as Michael Sheen, (who is not very well known in the U.S., but is becoming more and more known.) who commented later that he “enjoyed being on the show and seeing its bubbly personality. I walked away with a smile on my face.” Bonnie has an uplifting, and clean sense of humor. I enjoyed the fact that I could watch the show with my younger siblings, and not have to worry about what kind of content would sneak its way… Read more »
I love the Bonnie Hunt Show. I have enjoyed every show with my granchildren. They love her too.
Seems that quality programs are the first to go. She is so warm, kind, and very funny. I hope another network with some sense picks her up.
I am very disappointed in the cancellation of the Bonnie Hunt Show. The show is witty and refreshing. She is one of the sharpest comedians ever. Since her show is cancelled I have decided not to watch any other daytime talk shows. They do not have the quality of entertainment that I enjoyed on her show. I wish there was a way to change Warner Brothers decision.
Really a stupid move! If anything they should have given Bonnie a better time slot! What knucklehead made this decision? Oprah is leaving, so there is more than enough room for Bonnie’s show which is so well done and warm. It’s so sad because I finally got the cable thing where I could tape it for after work! *cries*
unfortunely the show came on at 300pm in my area, which is one of the worst times to be airing—The Bonnie Hunt Show was soooo funny and down to earth, I enjoyed watching and I am going to miss it. I continued to laugh through out. I don’t understand why television keep taking the best shows off the air. I wish her the best and hope to see her in the future doing what she loves.
I am sad and very sorry to see the Bonnie Hunt Show canceled. Her show brought an hour of laughter, warmth, and joy into my life. I have not been able to find work for two years and find life a bit depressing these days. Her show reminded me of “The Mike Douglas Show” from the 1960-1970 era. It was a show that in the middle of day you see new talent, laugh at yourself, and find out new things that make an improvement in your life. God Bless Bonnie, you have made me a fan of yours for life.… Read more »
I’m going to miss Bonnie, she’s been the best part of my day. Hopefully another network will pick her up. Would be nice to see her on late night, finally one I would watch. She’s just too funny….
Normally I do not watch daytime TV, but my husband and I both LOVE the Bonnie Hunt Show~! It is the most iformative, entertaining, uplifting, humorous show on the air today……. well til the powers that be took her off~!!!! He show was fast moving and had somethhing for almost everyone. Her personality showed through out her interviewing of guests and in her sensitivity to emotional situations. Surely you will put her back on the air SOON and in another time slot. She needed to have more folks see her~!!!! If you don’t bring her back you will deprive us… Read more »
Some people take any and every opportunity to bash Washington. Washington had NOTHING to do with this wonderful show getting canceled. I bet Warner Bros, that is responsible for canceling this show, is full of Republicans. So there!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU…..TRULY….
Thank you for voicing your opinion…..really sad. I would rather get rid of Opra
and that other lady…that is on before Opra…cannot remember her name…sorry.
