Sadly, it appears that The Bridge is out. FX has announced that they won’t be producing a third season of the gritty crime thriller.
The Bridge revolves around the Mexican and American police detectives and their efforts to protect those along the Texas–Chihuahua border. The cast of this crime drama includes Demián Bichir, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Thomas M. Wright.
The show debuted in July of 2013 and the first season averaged 1.77 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second season concluded earlier this month and the season was way down in the ratings. It fell 37% in viewers (to 1.11 million) and fell 44% in the demo (down to a 0.4 rating).
FX released just a short statement regarding the cancellation: “NETWORK STATEMENT: FX will not be moving forward with a third season of The Bridge.”
What do you think? Did you like The Bridge TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
How unfortunate — “The Bridge” is one of the best shows on TV.
Maybe Netflix or Amazon.com will be smart enough to pick it up — at least to produce a conclusive “last season”.
Fingers crossed!

The first season was great which led to the anticipation for Season 2. However, the 9 different stories within the show was just to much to follow and enjoy. Keep the story simple and make a slower attempt at character development and maybe you will generate a better following.
Again tv does wrong by canceling a show which is ahead of its time . Using subtitles , showing a different culture , dealing with a special concerns in an adult , are they trying to say this is too sophisticated for American tv viewers ? Sad , very sad indeed . It was my favorite show . It was not really given a true chance to prove itself .
What a shame. I loved the show and thought it showed potential. FX is off my list….
I loved the Bridge. Very bad moves being made by cable TV. Sons of Anarchy – last season and Justified going into last season. These 2 should go on forever. What’s left?
Won’t be watching FX or TNT.
A great show. Diane Kruger’s acting was phenomenal. We did stop watching this season, as like many shows, it lost it’s way. Winding and confusing plot lines do not make it easy to watch.
I too was sad to hear they have cancelled The Bridge. It was very good and a favorite of mine. Both script and acting was great. Please bring it back. I never understand why such good programs continually get cancelled. The reality stuff is all crap. Once again, bring back The Bridge.
sad to see it go. one of the few shows I always looked forwrded to watching along with Justified. great writing and acting FX please don’t mess with Justified, the best show on TV by far
I was so looking forward to season 3! This show had great character & plot line development. Oh well I guess I keep searching for a show that sticks around.
Another great show down
I liked the show. Great cast! At least FX ended the season / series with some definition and we weren’t totally left hanging!
I’m really sorry to see that The Bridge did not get renewed! It was a smart, edgy, dark and often difficult show to watch show (because of the brutality ) and most often and unsettling. Why did I watch it? The acting was great….and so were the scripts. Eventually The Bridge became a favorite show of mine because the actors were so good portraying the characters….like them or not. Interesting characters played by excellent actors and actresses is prime entertainment. One of the most fascinating characters I think I’ve ever seen in a series was Eleanor Nacht played by Franka… Read more »
I am sad that The Bridge is not going to be renewed,
but at least FX did give fans closure in the season finale.
The actors and actresses did an amazing job,
and the series did shed light on how the violence
in Mexico is truly horrifying, and that many of the women
who are murdered- their killers oftentimes never get caught.
I really liked the bridge. it was about my favorite show. very sad to see it go.
“The Bridge is out” haha I love reading your little puns in your articles. Anyway, I didn’t watch The Bridge, but my dad did. I get the impression he won’t be too crushed to hear it’s cancelled.
