It’s case closed for The Code TV show. CBS has cancelled the low-rated drama series so there won’t be a second season. Actress Dana Delaney broke the news via Twitter (see below).
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Raffi Barsoumian, and Delaney. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Code got off to a mediocre start in the ratings when it premiered on April 9th. The show drew a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.13 million viewers. The following week, in its regular timeslot, it fell to a 0.53 rating with 4.45 million. The numbers for the rest of the season didn’t get much better.
In June, CBS pulled the series from the schedule and replaced it with reruns of renewed dramas Magnum PI and God Friended Me. The Code returned from its month-long hiatus this month and the poor ratings got even worse for the four remaining installments.
The first season finale aired last night and, despite having some devoted fans, that will also be the end of the show.
Thank you to all you wonderful people who watched @TheCodeCBS. Last night was our finale and sadly, no more. I’ll never make General. But I loved this cast of stellar actors & know we’ll meet again. Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/kqjcZBTRzo

Unfortunately it’s true… @TheCodeCBS has come to an end and while I’m disappointed that I don’t get to continue this particular adventure with these stellar humans, I feel very grateful for, and proud of, the show we made. Thank you so much to everyone who watched!! #TheCode 🙏 pic.twitter.com/e8aY3O2qII

What do you think? Did you enjoy The Code TV show on CBS? Would you have watched a second season of this drama series?
So disappointed CBS cancelled this show. Guess they think everyone watches their “reality shows” where everyone is running around half naked and having sex everywhere.
Exactly right.
They cancel this good show but leave the likes of “Love Island” on for five nights a week. Really disappointed in CBS, thought they had better taste.
So true, again.
Hubby and I really liked this show…it’s a shame it has been cancelled. We do not watch any of the so called reality shows…so brainless. Can’t believe they cancel a good show and leave the other “stuff” on…what’s wrong with people?
Networks are always cancelling good programs, it’s tiring. I’m done with regular shows I will watch cable only.
I loved this show, ALL the characters were wonderful!
This is such a shame this show in my opinion was right up there with NCIS. To boot it kind of gave a look at how our Devildog’s are treated and how the military handles legal issue’s. It brakes my heart to read that it won’t be no more. Just when it was starting to pick up steam and head in a direction where it could be followed and keep you entertained. Cbs get your act together because not everyone is into the whole dramatic drama that is normally on . Who really cares about the boring reality drama that… Read more »
I would have liked to see another season. Give the show a chance! Maybe its the time slot. Did cbs ever consider changing the day &/or time?
CBS this was a great show and a big mistake of not having another season. Because this was a great show possibly you could’ve put it on a different night for ratings to go up. Sorry you let this sjow go. To the cast and crew of The Code–GREAT job and thank you for fantastic job on the characters you portrayed.
Such an incredible show and an honorable theme! My dad was a marune and would have greatly respected the manner in which the core was portrayed. Please consider bringing the show back !!
I was really hoping for a second season. I really grew to care about their personal stories. Will Abe get the personal life that he desires? Will Adam stay with the USMC? Will his mother get promoted? Will the “posse” that tried to take Abe down get their just desserts? …
YES I Would Watch MORE Seasons of The Code; Please Don’t take it off, We do NOT need Any More Reality TV Show’s, there is Too Many Already, Please Keep The Code episode’s coming.
I am very sad that CBS has cancelled another good show while leaving garbage on. The Code was a good clean show. Shame on CBS, but we don’t have the network now anyway.
I want a second season for a fine show!
BOO CBS, taking off a GREAT show like The Code and creating a new show called EVIL, come on CBS, there enough Evil in the world already without you bringing it to our televisions. I won’t be watching it!
This is it for me. The networks keep cancelling good shows, while trash like (name any reality show) keeps on chugging. I will not reward them by watching any more of their programming. Fortunately, HBO and others have very fine shows to watch. Bye, bye, CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox. Screw you sideways. I really liked this show.
I REALLY liked this show. I had to miss a couple times due to it being later on Monday nite(a different time n day would give it another chance for all!) CBs should try like a Saturday or something! SOO disappointed in Cbs! Great Job to the Code Crew!
