If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I really enjoy this show. It has intelligent dialogue and story lines. Why is it always the really good shows that get axed so that we are left with inane drivel like reality shows and loud manic nonsensical immature shows? Seriously, the intellect of young viewers and young writers leave an awful lot to be desired. Please keep The Code. It is an awesome show.
We like the show very much. I’m a military veteran and my husband deals with lawyers all the time.
I/we really enjoy the show, more than some of the other crap on tv! Not all of us want reality shows everyday. At least let it come back in the fall and give it a chance.
I love the show! I think it’s very reminiscent of Jag. I think Luke Mitchell does an amazing job. I really hope they give it a chance in the Fall/Winter season. An April start to a show like this was a horrible decision.
Please don’t cancel The Code. It is really a great show. If it’s not working on this night, try others. Y’all know how this works. Honestly, starting new shows to just have them pulled out from underneath me all the time, not limited to CBS only, all networks do it, is the reason my household doesn’t start new shows anymore. We took a chance on this one & its looking like it may get pulled too. Before now, we hadn’t started a new show in 2 seasons. Anyway, please do what you can to save the show.
It’s a breath of fresh air!!. I definitely want to see a second season.
I’d love to see another season; my partner and I both love the show. Please, CBS, bring it back!
I really enjoy the show. I think it deals with real and relevant issues. The acting is great and the chemistry feels real. I would definitely watch another season. I am in the 40+ age group and can’t say that I enjoy all the reality shows that seem to dominate our screens.
I really like this show. The characters have good chemistry, and the plots are interesting. I’m in the over 65 crowd, but we count too! Please give it another season.
I don’t like many shows. I’m not the target audience but networks should remember people my age have more disposable income. Reality shows and game shows are tiresome which are filled with fake people. I have a life and don’t want to watch fake reality. I want entertainment. Watching 15 men or women acting like idiots over one person is just plain stupid. CBS didn’t even try to help. Why not give it a shot in a decent time slot and then decide. This is a good show that deserves an actual run for a chance.
We mirror those sentiments. We spend money and we do so with the thought of our entertainment.
I enjoy watching The Code. The characters are believable. The plots realistic and the cases legit. It is a pleasure to watch and I would not like to have to delete from my DirecTV recording schedule.
I love this show…. I was wondering where it went… I look forward to it every week. I am 82 and a lot of seniors love this show. Please keep it for a second season!!
I love it. Look forward every week to watching it.
I love this show! I found it late on CBS, but the stories are good and the actors have great chemistry.
How about keeping a show on long enough to get a following, all the shows on today are geared for the 18-30 crowd there are plenty of people in the 40+ crowd who enjoy shows like this. Please re-think cancelling the show, there is great chemistry between the actors.
