If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
very disappointed.
I am disappointed that the show the “Code” has been cancelled. At this time in this country, the Military is finally getting the respect it deserves.
The show was realistic. I have members in my family thru generations which were all military. Very disappointed. Summertime is not a time to judge
shows. A lot of people spend time outside.
I like the show and will watch it.
I like this show and would continue to watch it. They are developing the characters and story lines and this takes a bit of time.
I liked the show and would continue to watch it. Give it time. They are developing the characters and their stories.
I love this show! Pease don’t cancel!
Enjoyed Season 1. Very likable characters, very good story lines.. please do not cancel!
Really liked The Code;it was well written, well acted. But there seems to be something wrong in how it was taken off the air; I had 1 episode left on the DVD and it disappeared off the device before I could watch it. And if you look it up on demand there is only two episodes available.
Love this show. It was funny, and sad. All the characters play to their strengths. Please don’t cancel.
The Code is, for me, the most intelligent, informative, and entertaining drama on network television. For many years I have depended on CBS to provide me with the finest programs. To lose The Code to low ratings would be a great loss. The cast is superb and the scripts are captivating. If this show is cancelled, I hope that it will at least be put on DVD so I can watch and rewatch The Code for infinity. This show is a masterpiece and CBS should allow it more time to develop and grow. Give my best to the cast and… Read more »
I really enjoy watching THE CODE! I’m really sick and tired of the TV shows that I enjoy watching being canceled! I’m 58 & apparently my age group doesn’t count! I’ll be extremely upset if another one of my favorite shows is canceled!!!!
I love the code. It should come back. It’s not there falt that AT@T cut off channel 2 CBS on there programs. I am paying $5.99 a month just to get the show on line. Come on give them a break. Blame AT@T or CBS. But please do not blame the show. Lots of people could not get it for it has gotten cut off.
I love the show. Great cast and an interesting view inside the world of the military.
I would definitely watch another season! Reruns of Magnum PI? Really? And more cheap and stupid reality shows seem to be CBS standard these days .
It’s a shame to see a previously good network make those kind choices.
I hope what I just watched was only a Season Finale!
Please do not cancel.. This is a great show for people that want more real drama on TV and not this REALITY JUNK. I have been a dedicated viewer of The Code since it began. I have two Marines and it enlightens on how their lives are. Please don’t cancel. So many of the higher quality shows that viewers over the age of 30 watch have been cancelled.
I will be very disappointed if they decide to cancel this high quality show. I always DVR it and look forward to watching it on Monday evenings. Don’t mess with the Code!
