If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
The show is entertaining. Seeing some of shows they show coming on this fall I have not one bit of interest in. They all sound terrible
I liked The Code and would love to have seen a season Two.. I would be sad to see it go.
We loved The Code. It’s like JAG which we miss. Seems like they don’t even give these shows a chance!
CBS cancels too many shows too soon. This was a good series, certainly better than Magnum.
I really like the Code. We watch it all the time. I hope it doe return.
I think they should try it on a different night first. Why is it that the networks only care about 18-49 age group? It really angers me that they do not care about people over age 50. We watch MUCH TV!
I totally agree.
Monday night has TOO many good shows on. I have to tape (4) while I watch one (1)–Also it is hard to compete with the WWE programs, they have a large viewing audience, as fake as it is.
Why the 18-49 grp still runs tv I don’t know. Anyone I know in this age group watches little network programming. This show might struggle against MNF but it’s been great running in the off-season. There are certainly many worse shows continuing.
Good observation Lynne! The question should be, “Why the 18-49 grp still ruins tv?” Plot lines and acting should still account for something. We aren’t all watching for sex and bodies.
The Code is a good shown CBS is cancelling many good shows it sucks
I really like The Code. I hope they give it a chance.
I really like The Code! It’s along the lines of Jag, which I always liked. I hope they give it a chance for another season.
The show had potential but the acting and stories are very week. Not worth the DVR space and will probably be canceled
I think the code is one the best shows of the season and if CBS really about what the viewers want people who support the advertisers they will leave it alone
My wife and I love this show, it reminds us a lot of JAG. I agree with another poster about my age group having larger disposable income. I’m 63 and want to know why the networks are practicing ageism.
The Code is a Very Good Show,. Gives some insight to the Marine Corps and the legal side.
We love shows about the Marine Corps.
My husband and I watch the code every week. We have watched every single episode. We have really gotten involved with the characters and story lines. Please keep it on!
