Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

I agree with all you fine folks, this show is simply fantastic. It had all the ingredients for a great run, except for FOX. That netwok has the unfortunate talent of canceling shows before anyone even knows the show existed. This show suffered the same fate as Firefly with the common denominator being FOX. Ugh, they suck!
I agree with everyone. Found it late too. GREAT show and good fun. It just needed a better venue. Soooo – Netflix? Step up!!!

It really is to bad that so many people watch the worst made **** on t.v. bumping the ratings, only to have a well made show cancelled because of it.

This is the best series of the last decade. Amusing, insightful, and awesome photography. Sadly, no more; as a complete work, the 13 episodes are a complete epic. It is hard to imagine any continuation of the series withoit clarke duncan.
Bring more guess stars onto the show like Katy Perry , Taylor Swift , Megan Good , Kevin Hart … Let Walter girlfriend get kidnap by a serial killer and let that killer be Dexter. The shoo is good I loved it , but it just need a little more kick into it. That girl uncle is a dick and Leo needs to kick his ass!
I’m soTry to say that I too found this show on Netflix a little too late as it was canceled two plus years back. My hope is that Netflix takes a look at the viewer ratings and the fact it has 5 stars on Netflix and may decide to pick it up and produce it further. They are the ones that seem to take the shows that should have made it and didn’t and give them another shot. So if any Netflix big wigs are reading this, produce more of the finder! No more reality crap please!!

Absolutely absurd that this show was canceled. This was not a good show, it was Great! Had all the components you’d look for in a quality, entertaining, long lasting show. Heart, humor, intelligence, romance and intrigue. Of all the stupid, mindless shows that get put on the air much less renewed, I don’t think it’s possible for a Real show to make it. First of all the network should have known better to even put it on thrusday nights…..uhu!!!!??? Scandal is on…then on Fridays, who is home on Friday nights…nobody…that is time to go out to dinner, movies or bars. I believe Wendsday would of made a better choice. The show was great..good story lines…great actors…made me laugh all the time…which is a good thing. I wish they would bring it back…like they have with some past shows….and this time promote it better…because i really don’t remember them doing so.
Agree with Susan, unfortunately I discovered The Finder on Netflix , very sad that there will be no season 2. Really enjoyed this show. Wish I would of discovered it earlier, that way I could have helped promote it through friends and family.
Me too. I watched the series finale last night on Netflix. (As usual, a few years late).
I wonder if all that tragedy was intended as a really intense summer cliffhanger, or did they already know the series had been cancelled, and that was their petulant response?
Same for me. Being a teen boy I found it on Netflix and was really upset not to have a second season. I really loved the show. If you want to watch something kind of similar but with more comedy, try watching Psych. It might keep you hopes up. It did for me,

Same here. I was bummed about Psych ending. But 1 season of The Finder is just depressing. Michael Clark Duncan has always been a favorite actors, may he rest in peace; and Walt’s character was awesome as well. I remember them on an episode of Bones, and actually thought they should have their own show. Was so excited to find out they did. Now I’m done watching and all I can think of is what happens next? These networks need to give shows more time to make it! Why are they only depending on Neillson rating or whatever they are!? Do some research folks! Loved the show Geoff & his crew were great. They could recast the part of Leo played by Michael Clarke Duncan, but they’d have to go big, larger than life I’m talkin’ cause Michael was awesome! Miss his presence!
I loved that tv program. I love shows I can laught and entertaint. The Finder was one of this one. And the last episode was inconclusive, no real finale. What is wrong!

The Finder was a favorite from the start. I watched every episode on Fox and just watched again on Netflix. I was so disheartened when Duncan passed away. Finder was a fun show. Sorry it was cancelled!!!!!
