As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

I just want to say this show was the best ever!!! I watched the first season in two days thats how much I loved it. I didn’t even know it was on T.V., it’s only because of Netflix I found it. All I have to say is if they would have had more ways to get the show out, it def. would have been a hit. I feel the ratings were low because people like me never knew it was coming out. I think ABC should rethink cancelling The Gates. It was a descent show that had a lot of drama and excitement. I think this show would have done well. It’s awful that it was even given a chance, but ABC would keep other less desirable shows on the air. This was a good family show and I would hope that ABC would reconsider their decision.
We looked forward to getting together with family and friends to watch the show. please ABC reconsider and bring The Gates back.

What……………. I have been waiting for the Gates return, I think that this was the worst decision that ABC could have made I and a few others were faithfull watchers ad I want them to return, I didn’t watch that other vampire diay or trueblood. The twist to the Gates made it even more better and kept you wanting more and more. Just watched season one on netflix. I loved it. I was not able to watch it when it was on TV but wanted to. I am very sad to hear that ABC cancelled it. Now I remember why I don’t watch TV much. They always cancel the good shows and leave the stupid ones on. Sci-fi should pick up the series.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE GATES. IT WAS QUITE GOOD……. JUST GREAT ENTERTAINMENT! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!! IT NEEDS TO HAVE ANOTHER SEASON SO THAT MORE PEOPLE CAN WATCH.
Please bring this show back the support is there just market it a little more. People are looking for a suuplmental show beetween true blood twilight, king of thrones, and other fantasy and sci fi style shows this show fits the bill abd should be marketed as such. It is interesting, reminds me of eureka but with vamps etc.. Another good show.
Loved the show what will it take to bring the show back, how about putting it on one of the cable networks. It was a great suspense and reminded me of some of those old time favorites. Tell the viewers how to bring the show back we waited for it to return and to hear that it was cancelled was a great disappointment. ABC has had some great programs on that have capturted a lot of viewers, too bad they don’t get the opinions from the veiwers the ratings would far exceed the other networks.
I am very furious to find out about no season 2. I enjoyed the show very very much and you cant just leave the show with an ending like that, you have to finish. At least create and ending season, that would be appreciated. Again, furious for no season 2.

ABC SUCKS! A good show like this gets canceled yet something Like GLEE, as gay as it is goes on and on and on! LET THE PEOPLE VOTE ABC, FOX, AND OTHER NETWORKS. IS that not why we has social networking like twitter, facebook, and others?
I would like to say that this was a great show and shame on ABC for not allowing the show to go on. It was one of the best shows that I have seen in a while. I would like to write ABC and express my feelings because I need to know what happens next.
Just finished re-watching the 1st season of The Gates. I really enjoyed the show and am very disappointed it will not be returning I really hope ABC reconsiders I am dying to know what happens to Charlie.
