TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Keep it!!!!!Great acting. Great stories!!!!Different kind of show that is actually good. Enjoy something different for a change. Only thing I MUST watch every week. Please don’t cancel it.
Complete rip-off of warehouse 13, but I still enjoy the show. I’d be disappointed if it was cancelled.
This is a keeper. Was great as 2hr movies and has been great fun as a 1hr show. And I’m hoping Bob Newhart and Jane Curtain may come back for a bit again!
A second season is a must!! For the past month the only thing my campus has been talking about is this show! It is well written, the actors have their roles down perfectly, there is great chemestry between everyone, and people can learn from it!! Not many TV shows can boast near perfection, and while kind of cheesy at times, the Librarians is one of the shows that can. Bring on a second helping of this show immediately!!

Why would anyone want this great adventure to end. Not to mention the great actors who make the show. There isn’t a lot on TV I really enjoy watching anymore. It is a wonderful show and needs a second season. Don’t change a thing especially the cast just give us more of the same amazing entertainment.

I gotta say loved the movies, kept me riveted!! Thought I wouldn’t see anymore of the show again, then the advertisements started airing on Space and I felt like a kid in the candy store!! Great cast, fantastic storylines, and like great TV has to have, an unbelievable cliffhanger for season finale. If I have any complaint at all, it’s that like most 1st season shows, not enough episodes!! Gotta have more! I so hope this show gets renewed, so looking forward to what Dean Devlin and his team will come up with for the next fantastic Librarian season!!
Seriously this show just started why cancel it? It’s a really amazing show…tired of networks cancelling after first season especially when so much amazing work is being put into the show
You have to keep The Librarians! It’s like Supernatural, Charmed and Leverage in one show! If I’m not mistaken one of those shows is still going strong and the other two had pretty good runs and were on top when they said good bye. Keep it on and it will not disappoint!!!!
