It’s time for the aliens to go home. ABC has cancelled The Neighbors after two seasons and 44 episodes.
A family sitcom, The Neighbors follows the Weaver clan as they try to live in a beautiful gated community that’s filled with alien visitors from the planet Zabvron. The ensemble castmembers are Jami Gertz, Lenny Venito, Simon Templeman, Toks Olagundoye, Tim Jo, Clara Mamet, Ian Patrick, Isabella Cramp, and Max Charles.
After a first season of mediocre ratings, the series could have been cancelled last May. However, ABC decided to stick with it and scheduled it on Friday nights. Expectations on Fridays are lower but The Neighbors’ ratings ended up being too low for a third season renewal.
Castmate Olagundoye tweeted the news, “Tweeps, I have known since last night, but was not able to share the news until it was announced publicly. #TheNeighbirs has been cancelled”

I love it. I only watch shows on HULU and just found it. I binge watched it! It made laugh out loud constantly. Bring it back please. 🙂
I just found this show on Hulu I rarely watch tv on tv but I do on hulu and Netflix so so sad to see this show go!!! I binge watched it now I want more!!!
I really wish the would bring this show back. I just found it on hulu and binged watched it. I rarely watch TV except on Hulu, NetFlix and Amazon and if I would of known about the show earlier I would of watched it. I don’t understand why all the good shows gets cancelled after one or two seasons and it would be nice if a show was cancelled that they would end it instead of leaving it like this and ABC is the worse for doing just that.
I wish they would bring it back because it was was really enjoyable and i believe that there was a lot of upset people when thy found out that you guys have discontinued this amazing show ☹☹
All this time of hoping and waiting and still no return. Yes–find a better night, call it something else, whatever it takes. Just get the crew back and give us some fun. All we get is bad news and horrifying shows; can’t even watch tv with my kids.
I certainly WOULD NOT have cancelled The Neighbors! What a fun, fun and funny show. The aliens were soooo endearing. Debbie Weaver, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Larry Bird, Marty Weaver, Dick Butkus, Reggie Jackson and all the Weavers. The Weavers were perfect foils for the aliens every week. Some other network needs to pick up this show and get on with success! Clearly ABC can’t recognize fantastic when it’s running on their own network.
I have just finished seeing all of the episodes one and two season and I’m going to miss it dearly it was very funny and I had a lot of good emotion in it I want to see more of it
Could there be a better time to air this show? Zombies abound. Planet X is just around the corner. The bees are all but dead. We all need something to take our minds off of the climate changes affecting the entire planet, a failing economy, one environmental disaster after another, health care – what’s that? The writers knew exactly what they were doing when they jagged and zagged these great scripts for the perfectly cast new neighbors in the hood. Tennis anyone? Just found the show a short while ago. Hoping Netflix or another buys the rights and continues the series! So unique with an awesome script.
I just found the show this week and I agree Netflix should pick it up….it reminds me of 3rd rock from the sun….a really great show I just wish I knew about it sooner
Jim – you are the first person to make that comment, and I totally agree with you. I guess this show was not liberal enough for (arguably) the most liberal network (just ask Tim Allen today).
