While the characters on Aaron Sorkin’s Newsroom try to put on a show that attracts big ratings, HBO is doing the same thing in the real world. Will viewers return for season two? Will the series be cancelled or renewed for season three? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Newsroom typically airs on Sunday nights and there are nine episodes this season (vs 10 last year). The cast includes Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, and Sam Waterston.

What do you think? Do you like The Newsroom TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Aaron Sorkin is far and away the best writer on TV, and one of the most important. I don’t blame the Conservative right for being upset at him. He clarifies the lunacy that they drag, and are currently dragging this country through…and he does it with their own words and actions, brilliantly hoisting them on their own petard. It is a privilege to watch a master at his craft. I urge HBO to renew Newsroom and extend this privilege. Like fine wine, it takes a little time to be fully appreciated. Election Night parts I and II should be viewed… Read more »
This show’s absolutely the best thing I’ve seen on tv for a long time. Not sure what’s causing the hesitancy about renewing.
Most people aren’t smart enough to even understand what is going with this show – it’s Aaron Sorkin! He’s a brilliant writer, but his shows have complicated story lines and they appeal to smart people, and this one is on HBO. Personally I love it. It’s like getting a peek in to recent history. It’s amazing. Hope it doesn’t go away…but when crap like Vanderpump Rules, and Real Housewives has higher ratings intelligent shows don’t have great prospects.
Love this show, makes me laugh, makes me think….Excellent show!
The Newsroom is one of the brightest shows that has ever been written. It is brilliantly acted, produced and conceived. It should be renewed for at least three more seasons and thankfully HBO has a history of supporting art over ratings as there are fans who aren’t afraid to think as they are entertained.
love the show; funny how it takes ‘fiction’ to tell the truth!

The Newsroom is by far the best show on television. I can only hope that HBO renews it for a third season. The writers, the cast and crew should be applauded for the time and effort they put into each episode; they are gifts for the audience.
Bravo! A hell of an ensemble. Brilliantly written with beautifully drawn characters. Spot on. I come away each week feeling good about watching it. It purges some of the mediocrity out. So much of television is like eating a Big Mac. You feel guilty about consuming it and feel like crap afterwards. If the cast and writers can maintain this quality and energy, I’m in it for the long haul. I will confess to indulging myself again quite often mid-week. NO One is allowed to erase Newsroom from the DVR. To cast and crew. I hope the powers that be… Read more »

Sorkin is busy with other projects and may not have time to work on this show.
I love The Newsroom and hope it continues!
Love the show. I eagerly await each episode. Love it — love it — love it!!
