It’s not looking good for season two of The Whispers. The ABC TV show has been dropping in the ratings and now, the network has let the cast’s options expire.
On The Whispers, several Washington, DC children start talking about and playing with an imaginary friend. When their mysterious games turn dangerous, FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan (Lily Rabe) is called in to investigate. The rest of the cast includes Barry Sloane, Milo Ventimiglia, Derek Webster, Kristen Connolly, Kylie Rogers, and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf.
Word is that the cast’s contract options for a second season expired at the end of June. According to Deadline, ABC hasn’t given up on The Whispers just yet however and want more time to make a decision.
The network tried to get a two-week extension but that didn’t happen — in part because of series star Lily Rabe. She and other members of the cast weren’t happy that, after the pilot was shot last May, shooting of the series was relocated to Vancouver.
Shooting in Los Angeles would be too expensive for the low-rated drama so producers have a plan for Rabe to do a limited number of episodes if the series ends up being renewed.
If The Whispers is picked up for a second season, new contracts will have to be negotiated — providing the castmembers want to return or aren’t already committed to other projects. Ventimiglia is being eyed for the lead role in a pilot for USA Network called Shooter.

Please renew second Season. This show is great why even make the shoW if u wont renew. We want to see what happens and the show has the potential to be even more amazing. I will be very dissapointed if they do not renew.
ABC come on! stop putting good shows on for one season then ripping them out to put more crap reality shows that nobody cares about, I watch TV to get away from reality I don’t need reality on my TV!! It’s getting to the point that I’m going to stop watching all new shows because they just wind up being cancelled! We know the show and let us know what the hell’s going on.
RENEW and let ALL THE ACTORS know they are great and renew their contracts

The ending left it open for either a 2 hour conclusion, or another season. I wonder if they rewrote the ending when they saw the following it was getting, leaving it so that there could definitely be a season 2. A mid-season replacement show would be a great spot for it, as long as it’s not on Sunday night at 10:00. That’s the death knell for any ABC show. there must be another season, my mind has been messed up.
This is the greatest series of this summer, it should renewed and fill up the missing parts and the gaps left behind.

Myself & fellow co-workers watch the show faithfully and discuss it on our break at work.
Although I’m not sure how the show would move forward without Lily Rabe. She’s really one of the weekly main characters.

If ABC doesn’t renew this amazing show it will only confirm where DRILL has gone to! DRILL Has possed the ABC EXECUTIVES AND IS ******** WITH THIER MINDS!! Why else would they even think about CANCELLING this suspenseful, well written, and great acting show! ABC DONT LET DRILL GET AWAY WITH CANCELLING THE WHISPERS BECAUSE IT DOESN’T WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW THEY ARE COMING FOR HUMANITY!
