Even though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.
Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.
According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.
It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

Nooooooo why why why ???? I was looking forward to the second season, I watched the tudors and it was amazing….BBC and STARZ please please bring the second season back…Elizabeth is marrying Henry VII the Tudor Dynasty begins….
Ok, completely disappointed! I decided to check to see when the 2nd season of The White Queen was going to start. Much to my surprise it’s not going to! It would really be nice to let people know they won’t have a 2nd season to look forward to. Before they get hooked on a series that’s not returning for a another season. Good television is hard to come by. With the prices of cable, it would be nice to think your paying for something worth watching!!! Truly truly disappointed!!!! PLEEEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
I am so very disappointed that there isn’t going to be a 2nd season for The White Queen. I have enjoyed Season 1 VERY much. Shame on you or canceling!
I just broke my arm, and watching the white queen was the only thing that made me stop thinking about the pain. Also its a great way to get people interested in history. Found my self googling various kings and queens of England.
I have watched similar series like Reign and the Tudors and they do not measure up!
That really stinks … I loved the series and was patiently waiting on the second season. Hope they reconsider.
What a bunch of bull..waiting for the second chapter to begin. The producers & writers enticefor us while dangling the show to our eyes and heart….. 10 episodes really???? Smart peotple use the number 2 or 3 for Chapters ….without tease people …fools!
I was just looking to see when the second season was going to start and found this article. My sister and I loved this Emmy nominated show, which says a lot because we don’t have much in common at all. So disappointed about it ending. We’re going to have to find something similar to watch now, but it won’t be the same.
I am very bummed. They did a great job with the series & would love to see it continue through the Tudor dynasty.
I was hooked on this series once I started watching this on starz demand.I watched the whole series in 1 day. I couldnt stop watching it.Very disapointed there wont be a second season!!
Was heartbroken that the next season won’t be coming. I must have watched the white queen series more times as I can count. Saddened by this decision

White Queen is one of the best series I have ever watched. The scenery, the actors, the costumes, were superb!! Please add a second season. The show is mesmerizing.
