Many Moonlight fans are still upset over the cancellation of CBS’ Friday night vampire series. CBS is counting on viewers wanting more of the show’s star, Alex O’Loughlin, and put him front and center in the new medical series, Three Rivers. So, will O’Loughlin’s physician outlive his vampire character?
Three Rivers revolves around a team of elite surgeons who work in the high-pressure and emotional world of organ transplants. The leader is Dr. Andy Yablonski, (O’Loughlin) a workaholic with a quick wit.
His co-workers include rebellious Dr. Miranda Foster (Katherine Moennig), womanizing Dr. David Lee (Daniel Henney), inexperience coordinator Ryan Abbott (Christopher Hanke), dedicated head of surgery Dr. Sophia Jordan (Alfre Woodard), and Pam Acosta (Justina Machado), Andy’s best friend.
Many have suspected that the drama was in trouble even before it got out of the starting gate. Amid some negative early reviews, CBS decided to bump the pilot episode and air the second installment instead. The second episode, which is set to air next week, is called “Ryan’s First Day” and might be a little confusing since returning viewers have already seen Ryan working at his job.

Based on the early ratings, that may be the least of CBS’ worries. Three Rivers debuted last night with a disappointing 9.17 million viewers and a 2.0/5 rating/share among adults 18-49. It ranked in a distant third place in total viewership and a distant fourth place in the all important demographic.
Three Rivers retained a little more than 70% of its lead-in audience and, in the same timeslot last year, Cold Case brought in almost two million more viewers.
Based on typical ratings trends, even fewer people can be expected to return next week. If you look at it that way, Three Rivers’ life expectancy doesn’t look very good.
Is Three Rivers worth saving or should CBS do a mercy killing and cancel it now? What do you think?
I really like this program. It is something good to watch on Sunday nights. Please bring it back.
Keep it on – Please get rid of some of those reality shows they are getting to be really stupid. We need to have more shows like Three Rivers .
I think it’s too late, since I heard it’s already cancelled, but if not – please keep this one!!! It was a little slow starting, but soon pulled away from the past hospital shows into it’s own.
I’ve only started watching Three Rivers from my DVR and think its a great asset to television. Now i’m hearing that your cancelling a great show. I loved Moonlight with Alex o’loughlin and became a fan. Please bring One of them Back!!!!
no way should three rivers be canceled cause it is a good show. i am sick in tired of cbs canceling good tv shows. shame on cbs for canceling a good show.
I think three rivers is very interesting. It has helped to remove the fear of organ transplant. I have enjoyed the show on sunday nights. Please keep it.
Please don’t cancel it, bring it back. Its a great show!!
KEEP IT GOING! I love this show and wait patiently each week to see if it is on. It is a show that the whole family can watch and there are not very many of those on these days!!! I will be very disappointed if it gets cancelled!!
Keep it .It is very is provocative.. Many of the shows I watch have been cancelled, Give it a fair shot,
KEEP THREE RIVERS it is a great show! CBS executives need to get their head out of their XXXXX and leave good programming on the air and trash the trash. The reason this show did not get the numbers to support it staying on the air is simple every week it was shoved, pushed, bullied around by the other programs on CBS. Give the show a chance to thrive and it can be the next “ER” success story!
I agree CBS really needs to look at their line up and do something with the shows that are just not worth watching(sitcoms). I think the time and day was the downfall of the show, CBS needs to change it up and see what happens when Three Rivers airs at another time and day. Please bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT CANCEL.. excellent program
Please don’t cancel “Three Rivers”. I was really upset when CBS canceled Moonlight and now they’re doing it again. Please stop cancelling shows with Alex O’Loughlin!!!! He’s the main reason why I loved Moonlight. Now, again CBS has a great show that’s being canceled. Shame on you!! Please CBS bring Three Rivers back on any night, it doesn’t matter. The show is awesome it has a great cast and I’m sure organ donors have increased just because of this show. How many shows can actually claim they did something worthwhile for humanity.
OMG don’t cancel a good show like this one, only to put on another show about cops. I am getting sick of this network as well cacelling all the good shows, time and time again!! What the hell is wrong with that network????????????
Please keep this show on Alex is hot, he needs to be on screen.
What is nice about this show is that it is unique; there has never been a medical show like it. I really enjoy the show; I like its content, its setting (Pittsburgh), and the acting. I even like the fact that it is on Sunday evenings, when not much else is going on unless you want more football on your menu.
CBS should be applauded for purchasing the show, and equally ridiculed if it removes the show from the airwaves.
