Would the life of police officer Allison McLean get a little less hectic in season two of the Ties The Bind TV show? We’ll never know. UP has cancelled the drama after one season of 10 episodes.
This dramatic series revolves around a tough and experienced female police officer from Seattle, played by Kelli Williams. Like most working women, Allison McLean’s hands are already full, balancing a demanding and dangerous job and a family — husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe), and teenagers Jeff (Mitchell Kummen) and Rachel (Natasha Calis). She and her partner, Devin (Dion Johnstone), must arrest her brother, Tim (Luke Perry), for aggravated assault. As a result, her world drastically changes. The rest of the cast includes Matreya Scarrwener, Rhys Matthew Bond, Lucia Walters, and Aaron Craven.
The series debuted in August 2015 and the 10 episodes finished airing in October. The cable channel was apparently considering ordering a second season but earlier this year, they decided not to do so. A message on the show’s Facebook page notes:
After thoughtful consideration, UP has decided to not renew “Ties That Bind.” The decision was not made lightly as we appreciate our passionate viewers who were not ready for the story to end. We want to thank the cast and crew for their tremendous dedication. Your commitment to this series was extraordinary.
What do you think? Did you enjoy this cop drama? Should it have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season of Ties That Bind on UP?
Wow just got to see the series first season through pureflix. My kids loved the show. They would beg me to see just one more. Very hard to find a show that the whole family can enjoy and is clean. No cursing, no sexual content or violence. We went looking for information on when season 2 will begin and so disappointed to find out there won’t be one. Hope they will reconsider….
Our family too, we found it on pureflix and it brought us all together. I pray they reconsider!
This was one of the best series we have ever seen! It had everything– the mystery/cop element, a very nice setting in the Pacific Northwest, and amazing family interactions. We’re so very disappointed that there’s no second season!!
I’ve been waiting for Season 2 & am so disappointed it won’t be back.
Just finished watching season 1 on Pure Flix and found out there wouldn’t be a season 2. So disappointed!! It was a very good show!!
I’m so disappointed that this show has been cancelled! It was so refreshing to finally watch a show that wasn’t based around sex, profanity, etc. I was not afraid to allow my 5 year old to watch it with me! So disappointing!
I loved it and would absolutely watch season 2 and beyond. It is a great show
We just watched the whole season on Pure Flix this week. My kids and I were so excited to finally find a clean family and police show. We were so looking forward to the next season and were very disappointed to find out that it was cancelled. This was such a great show!!! We need more shows like this! I think that UP should pick it back up or Netflix / PureFlix should make it a series of their own.
I was looking forward to season 2. It was refreshing to watch a positive show that portrayed a family that modeled integrity, fidelity, loving communication and conflict resolution plus some crime/police drama. Very lame that you ended it so abruptly like that.
I just watched all 10 episodes on Pure Flix . Finally a good police show with Family Values I was hoping for a season 2 but that does not seem to happen . I thought the story lines and acting was good . To bad one of the big 3 or even CW pick it up and see where it goes
For everyone that wants a season 2 all you need to do is watch it again, pureflix is having streaming of the entire season 1 starting Friday, JULY 22. check out twitter for more info.
This is so stupid. This was an excellent show. I guess there is no reaon to keep my subscription to UP. Since the Ties that Bind is the only the only show I watch on here.
Of course they cancelled it. It was one of the good shows. Up used to be a pretty good station but lately all they seem to have on is reality shows or the same show all day long. I may cancel my subscription
I am so disappointed! Finally a show that realistic issues & don’t have to worry about A bunchh of smut! I’ve been checking Every day for the new season & then find out its cancelled! Then its replaced by repeats of America’s funniest home video & more not so reality tv… I’m so bummed!
I actually really enjoyed Ties that Bind, and was looking forward to Season 2. Is like to know why the decision to cancel. I was under the impression new episodes were already in the making. Perhaps the series could be revived in webisodes?
I can’t BELIEVE they canceled it. This was a good show and I would have liked to see a season 2!
