Last summer, Under the Dome was a big success for CBS. How will season two do in the ratings? Will this Stephen King TV show be renewed for a third season or will it be cancelled instead? Time will tell.
Under the Dome revolves around residents of Chester’s Mill in Maine after a large transparent dome cuts them off from the world. Those on the inside have to work to survive with limited resources and rising tension. The large cast includes Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Nicholas Strong, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz, Jolene Purdy, Aisha Hinds, Dean Norris, Eddie Cahill, and Karla Crome.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Final season averages: 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.17 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Under the Dome averaged a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.21 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Under the Dome TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season three?
UPDATE: Now that the season’s over, how has the show performed?
Probably one of the worst acted and scripted shows – EVER (and that is saying something). How Mr King could be associated with this ridiculous “interpretation” of his pretty good is beyond me.
Put us all out of our misery and euthanize. Extending the seasons is a typical network ploy – milk the cash cow until its dry.
I love this show. Ido not like that they only do the ratings up until the age 49, I am 53 we watch TV as well probably more! I have fallen in love with these characters and love that they have figured out a way to introduce new ones. Please keep this show for season 3, we cannot take anymore reality TV!!
I love this show just the way it is. Good summer entertainment. I’d like it to keep going. Don’t know what’s wrong with you people who think its going downhill!
Love the show ! I hope for a season 3 . Currently my reason for watching a DVR version is that I get so worked up about some of the things happening in the show that I would be awake all night so watching during the day works much better for me.
I like Under The Dome but do feel they keep stretching the storyline. If it is cancelled, I hope they have an ending and don’t leave you hanging.
I’ve watched the show since they chopped that steer in half. It’s been an intriguing show, but I believe it’s run it’s course and it seems that after Monday’s episode a conclusion is where it’s drawing to and should. Thanks for the entertainment!
The show does get a fairly good bump up with DVR viewing.
I think it makes more sense to compare the viewing numbers
with other broadcast shows this summer rather than comparing
Dome to last year’s Dome numbers. Seems like TV viewing of broadcast
shows has decreased in general. Also, CBS is making money from
Amazon streaming and I’ve read Dome does well overseas.
I think it will be renewed…at least for one more season.
There are some good shows that shouldn’t have a second season, simply because the core subject provides limited story lines. Under the Dome should have had a couple of extra episodes in season one and been closed off as a good summer series.
Season two is like attempting to keep a dying pet alive in the hope it will get better. The latest offering (8/19) was almost laughable and I won’t it again.
Under the Dome…I don’t hink I heard anything from someone who READ the Steven King short story/book/novel whetever this is based on. I’d like to know if they are veering away from the original story just to create episodes; like the cave the last two weeks… I believe I KNOW why the dome is there but won’t offer spoilers.
ANYONE ???
Firest, Under the Dome was a big novel by Stephen King. Of course almost all his novels are big. I read it, actually listened to the audio book, and the TV series shares some basic names and concepts from the novel but quickly veered off from anything to do with the novel. I really liked the journey of the novel although the ending was a little disappointing for me. I am still watching the TV show to see how they tie up the story.
Hopefully they will give closure when the series does end.
“For comparisons: The first season of Under the Dome averaged a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.06 million viewers.”
Those are the wrong numbers.
In the first season, it averaged a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.21 million total viewers. That’s from the link to season one ratings; http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/under-the-dome-season-one-ratings-28854/.
Thanks for spotting that!
It doesnt make sense, even for scifi. Where did the teacher come from? It kind of like the ten commandments. One minute they love someone , the next they want to kill that person. Bring this mess to a close. So many times they finish a season hoping to get renewed. I suggest finishing a series, tieing everything up before you are cancelled! Show is horrible now, at least give it closure!
I don’t know I love the show and don’t want it to end but I also don’t want it to turn into a never ending soap opera either.
Agreed, I love the show but I would like to see the ending. It’s like reading a book, you know the end is there and you wait with anticipation as to what kind of end it will have.
Keep watching hoping it will get better. Not happening.
very nice show..
This show becomes a good comedy this season and I am not the only one who thinks it is .. hahahahaha

I thought the first season was a 5/5. Every thing was new and interesting. Seemed like every episode or two something would WOW me. It was one of my favorite shows of the year.
This second season is a big turn around for me. I’m starting to care less and less about each character. The story line no longer has me interested. It’s been the biggest disappointment for me all year.
I like under the dome, you never know what is going to happen next.
Do not want to see this show cancelled.
